Well connected by train as well as by bus, you can be at the beach by noon if you set out in the morning. Though Digha is the most popular of beaches, others in the area like Tajpur and Mandarmani are fast gaining tourist attention.

Things To Do in Digha

1. Feast on Fish - If you have a love for fish, then you are in for a real treat. Dig your toes in the sand and make yourself comfortable at one of the many shacks on the beach. Choose from an assortment of seafood including prawns, crab and pomfret. A delicious meal of rice and fish curry costs around Rs.50.

2. Go Horse Riding Along the Beach - Live out your Bollywood or Hollywood aspirations by galloping by the sea on horseback. It definitely has a charm of its own. Bargain hard for a good rate from vendors, which should be around Rs. 200 for an hour.

3. Drive down to Mandarmani - For an adrenaline rush, drive down to Mandarmani beach (shared taxis are available at Rs.20 per person). Here you can enjoy some thrilling water sports like water scooter rides and parasailing.

4. Shop for Souvenirs - Support the locals in Digha by buying trinkets made out of sea shells. From hair pins and jewelry, to show pieces and knick knacks, these make for wonderful gifts. Digha is also home to a cashew nut farm from where you can pick up cashew nuts at reasonable prices.

5. Visit the Digha Science Centre - Make your weekend getaway to Digha a bit educational too! Visit the Jurassic Age section and planetarium at the Digha Science Centre.
