The first well-planned industrial city of India, Jamshedpur allures visitors with its manicured parks and glistening lakes. Dimna Lake: If you enjoy water sports, try jet skiing and rowing at Dimna Lake. The green mountains surrounding the lake add to its mesmerizing beauty, making your experience all the more memorable.

Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary:  Jamshedpur has a wild side too, and it’s just 10 kilometres away from the city! At the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, you can easily spot sloth bears, wild elephants and many wild cats. A night stay at the Pindrabera Forest Rest House (for which you will need to take prior permission from the Forest Department) will complete your date with the wild.

Jubilee Park: Centrally located, the Jubilee Park is a popular picnic spot for locals and tourists. A befitting gift from Tata Steel to the people of Jamshedpur, the park is spread over 200 acres of land and has a Rose garden, amusement park, colourful fountains and a beautiful lake. On March 3, the birth anniversary of Jamshetji Tata, founder of the Steel City, the park is illuminated and adorned with flower beds.

Kalibari Temple: One of the oldest and holiest shrines in Jamshedpur, Kalibari temple draws devotees from far off places. Dedicated to Goddess Kali, the temple was established around the same time when the steel plant was set up in 1912. The Kali Puja here has been taking place since the last 27 years.

Domohani or River's Meet: Situated on the outskirts of Jamshedpur, Domohani or River’s Meet is at the confluence of rivers Subarnarekha and Kharkhai. Surrounded by lush green fields and tall Eucalyptus trees, the place is great to see a spectacular sunrise.

Hudco Lake: Situated in the midst of the Telco township, Hudco Lake is a popular picnic spot for locals and tourists alike. Enjoy boating and also visit the nearby Sumant Mulgaonkar Park that has an artificial waterfall and plenty of open space for the kids to play.

Ghatshila: Around 50 kilometres from Jamshedpur, Ghatshila is a small town situated on the banks of Subarnarekha river and is popular for a day trip. The famous Bengali author Bibhutibhushan Bangyapadhyay, whose book Pather Panchali was made into an award winning film by Satyajit Ray, lived and breathed his last here.

With many hotels and standalone restaurants offering a delectable menu, there is no dearth of eateries in Jamshedpur. For a pure vegetarian meal, you can try Marwari Bhojanayal near the Petrol Pump in Ram Mandir area. For continental cuisine, Asian Inn in Dhatkidih is a must-try. Do not miss the garlic bread that is served fresh from the local bakery.

Where to Stay? Ginger Hotel, Fortune Park Centre Point and Hotel Jiva are few good hotels in Jamshedpur.
