This centuries-old tradition is believed to have started to revere the mythology of the Puranas, which states that while Gods and demons were fighting for the pot of Amrita (Elixir for immortality), drops of it fell on the four sacred sites, which today are the home grounds for the Kumbh Mela. Devotees believe that on this day God Gandharva arrives to the Sangam to guide the pilgrims to heaven. Guru Brahaspati is worshipped on this day.

6. Mahashivratri – 4^th March 2019
