Glitzy, glamorous and grandiose – Dubai doesn’t quite fit into the stereotypical Middle Eastern mould. But then it’s a city like none other. Dubai is one of the seven emirates that form the United Arab Emirates and probably one of the richest. Its staggering wealth is on display in the huge manmade islands and soaring skyscrapers with futuristic designs, not to mention its legendary hotels. Dubai’s hotels have truly redefined luxury like no other place has – opulent palaces, sprawling facilities and decor rich enough for them to qualify as a sheikh’s residence in the Arabian Nights!

Towering Skyscrapers, Magnificent Shopping Malls and Delectable Cuisine- that's Dubai for you

JW Marriott Marquis Dubai: Dubai’s iconic skyline has recently had a new addition – the world’s tallest hotel! At 355 metres, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is the latest in the ever-expanding list of luxury hotels in the city. The hotel has two 72-storey towers of which only one is open at present; the other being slated to open in 2014. The hotel has nine restaurants and five bars and lounges and the Vault Lounge on the 71st and 72nd floor offering panoramic views of the city. It is particularly suited for huge conventions and exhibitions.

Burj Al Arab: With its unique architecture resembling a yacht’s sail, Burj Al Arab symbolises Dubai today. From the moment you step into the hotel, you will be impressed by its impeccable perfection and luxury. Fancy a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce? Or perhaps a personal butler? You only need to ask! Duplex suites with views of the Arabian Gulf, nine signature restaurants and bars and the Assawan Spa spread over two levels – the Burj is luxury at its best.

Al Qasr at Madinat Jumeirah: If you have always fantasised about the palaces in the Arabian Nights tales, look no further than the Al Qasr at Madinat Jumeirah. ‘Al Qasr’ means ‘the palace’ and the hotel surely lives up to its name – royal architecture, rooms in the classic Arabic style, even a traditional souk housing boutiques and galleries – you can indulge in some shopping without even leaving your hotel. Al Qasr is rightly called the Jewel of Madinat Jumeirah.

One & Only The Palm, Dubai: If you’d like a more intimate feel to your hotel, stay at One & Only The Palm, Dubai located at the extreme end of the Palm Island archipelago. The luxury mansions here have private pools, marble bathrooms and rain showers. Or try one of the exclusive beach-front villas with private beach access, pool and lush gardens. It’s the ultimate escape from the hustle and bustle, yet within easy access of the commercial areas of the city.

Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa: For the most luxurious desert retreat, you cannot go wrong with the Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa. Located away from the city, the resort is the epitome of tranquility and luxury. The suites blend seamlessly into the desert landscape, are beautifully furnished and come with private infinity pools. The Bedouin suites are decorated with Arabian artefacts, ornate doors and furnishings; you will even find an easel with art supplies in the suite should you be struck by sudden artistic inspiration!
