Known for its proximity to Shirdi, Nasik is emerging as a popular weekend getaway destination from Mumbai. Based on a friend's recommendation who visited the Sula Festival this year, we decided to stop over for the weekend in Nasik as a part of our annual visit to Shirdi. Here are a few things you must do on your weekend getaway to Nasik:

1. Ramkund: Whether you’re here for a spiritual sojourn or just a weekend getaway, visit the ghat of Ramkund where Lord Rama and Sita used to bathe. The waters here are said to provide moksha!

2. Sula Vineyards: Located about 15 kilometres from Nasik, Sula Vineyards is a big hit with wine lovers. Enjoy wine tasting sessions with your partner or take your family for a ride on bicycles and picnic by the lake.

3. Dudhsagar Falls: A popular picnic spot during monsoon season, the Dudhasagar Waterfalls derive their name from the word dudh or milk.

4. Trimbakeshwar (Shiva Temple):  An ancient Hindu temple in Trimbak, the Shiva Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga shrines of Lord Shiva. It’s a short drive from Nasik.

5. Shirdi:  Around 100 kilometres from Nasik, Shirdi is one of the most popular temples in India. Make a stop at the famed Sai Baba Temple here on your weekend break to Nasik.
