SURPRISE ME!
A memorable experience in a beautiful place and a smiling face: the recipe for a perfect selfie!
Gone are the days when you’d have to wait for someone to pass by so you could ask them to take your picture. Thanks to technology, today is the day and age of front camera mobiles and selfie sticks.
So go ahead, take your roaming dil to the best places in India to click a selfie. Here’s the definitive list:
Famous for having a high tiger population, Bandhavgarh National Park is a nature lover’s paradise. A wildlife safari brings you up close with nature, offering many wonderful photo opportunities.
The uninterrupted sea views from the top of Chapora Fort will make up for the tiring trek uphill. Did you know it is also one of the most popular photo spots in India, thanks to Dil Chahta Hai. Ek selfie toh banti hai!
Quaint and spiritual, the township of Auroville offers the perfect escape from city life. It’s only befitting to capture its serene environs and the gigantic golden dome with a selfie.
There’s more to Kerala than just the backwaters. See the Athirapally Waterfalls in their full glory during monsoon. It’ll be hard to get that silvery cascade out of your mind even long after you’ve left the place.
Stroll through one of the many strawberry gardens in Mahabaleshwar and treat yourself to fresh strawberries off the farm. Fun selfies while plucking and eating them are a must too!
The world’s largest river island will give you reasons enough to plan a trip here again and again. The lush, picturesque scenery and beautiful selfie shots at sunset are two of them.
‘Gar firdaus, ruhe zamin ast, hamin asto, hamin asto, hamin ast’ (‘If there is a Paradise on Earth, it is here, it is here, it is here’), says poet Amir Khusrau about Kashmir. Capture this paradise with a selfie in the fairy-tale like Tulip Gardens (open only in April) or on a shikara on the Dal Lake, with the mighty Himalayas in the background.
The stalactite and stalagmite formations inside the Belum Caves will leave you awestruck. Catch the sunlight as it filters through the ancient cave walls and don’t forget to click a selfie as you do so.
While most people only stop to admire the red sandstone structure of the Hawa Mahal from the outside, do step inside for a better look at the intricate architecture. A selfie next to one of the many jharokhas (windows) will be something you’ll treasure forever. Quick tip here, a camera with self-timer will come handy to help you capture the jharokha.
Known for its views of snow-capped mountains reflecting upon cobalt blue waters, Tsongmo Lake looks like it’s straight out of a postcard. Who wouldn’t want a selfie against such a backdrop?
The opportunities to click selfies against the turquoise waters and Mahua trees in Havelock are so endless that you might even get tired of clicking!
Crimson, purple, pink, yellow—the vibrant Valley of Flowers National Park is a riot of colours from June till September every year. How about capturing this picture-perfect scenery in a selfie?
Listed among the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal is undoubtedly the epitome of beauty. The white marble monument, with its characteristic Mughal architecture, casts a spell on you as soon as you lay eyes on it. Don’t plan a rushed visit to the Taj Mahal, it’s worth spending some hours admiring its intricate marble artwork. And a selfie at the Taj Mahal never goes out of style!
So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and get set to pose!
