Located in the heart of Europe, Prague is one of the most popular travel destinations and a cultural hub with a rich history. From historical monuments with stunning architecture to intriguing modern structures; Prague is captivating and magical.

The beauty of Prague is subtle yet extraordinary. It’s not apparent at first and it’s only after spending a few hours there that one discovers its hidden charms. Unlike most major European cities; London, Paris or Rome, Prague unfolds itself slowly. Here are five different ways to experience Europe’s Golden City:

1. Take a tour of the magnificent Prague Castle

The castle complex (one of the largest in the world) consists of the Old Royal Palace, three churches and a monastery, representing practically all architectural styles of the last millennium including Gothic, Baroque and Romanesque. Also visit the St. Vitus Cathedral, an excellent example of Gothic architecture.

2. Vltava River-Cruise on the Vltava River

Vltava is the longest river in the Czech Republic and also the most important. A typical Vltava river cruise passes famous sights like the Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, the Lesser Town, the Church of St Nicolas and the National Theatre. The river cruise is one of the best ways to admire the city, especially at night, when the city is all lit up.

3. Visit Josefov

Surrounded by the Old Town, Josefov is home to some of the oldest Jewish Synagogues and is best explored by walking around on its small, cobbled streets. A tour of the Jewish Quarter gives a glimpse into its turbulent past and makes for an intriguing experience; a must-do when visiting Prague.

4. See the Dancing House

The famous Dancing House or the Nationale-Nederlanden building is a fascinating yet strange sight in a historical city filled with old castles and cathedrals. Designed by Croatian-Czech architect Vlado Milunić, the Dancing House with its non-traditional design is innovation at its best and an architectural marvel of sorts.

5. Visit Old Town Square

Located in the heart of the Old Town, Old Town Square offers a variety of attractions and a lively atmosphere. The famous Astronomical Clock of Prague is also located in the Old Town Square and it is lined with a wide variety of cafes, bars, and restaurants. Walk around, eat, drink or observe people; one could easily spend an entire day at the square without a single dull moment.
