Want To Go ?

For most travelers, last year has been an exciting year. For some it has been weird, unusual, and downright surprising. Here is my list of 10 unusual travel tales from 2013. Enjoy! 1. Heineken Roulette caught people unaware at airports, dared them to drop all travel plans and go to whatever place that the roulette ringed in. While one let go of a trip home to travel to Cyprus, a mother thought her son had gone crazy when he dropped his homecoming plans and went to Chiang Mai, Thailand. 2. Weight no bar? Samoa Air said, “no” in April 2013! The airliner did the unthinkable as it started charging passengers by their weight. The decision was made citing overweight passengers that do not fit in the seats and create trouble for their neighbours! 3. Talking of weight, our very own GoAir is going light as well. Picture this: The airline planned on hiring but only light weight female flight attendants to reduce load on the planes. Can't get any weirder than that, can they? 4. Iceland may be icy cold but surely knows how to give a warm reception to visitors. It was ranked No. 1 in the list of “The Friendliest Nations Of The World - 2013” by World Economic Forum. It’s followed closely by New Zealand and Morocco.

5. Canada’s WestJet Airlines did a secret Santa with customers! Words are not enough to describe this, so we suggest you watch this video.

6. H8GAYS? Delta Airlines had to apologise to a customer for mentioning a flight code H8GAYS on the flight ticket. The code was however computer generated and Delta promised to make sure such codes won't appear on the tickets again! 7. Woman fell of a pier in Australia. Reason: She was browsing Facebook. This happened in Melbourne. A witness saw her and called for help. When the police came in and rescued her, she still had the phone in her hands. 8. Too broke to travel? Call Unagi Travel Services - a Japanese travel company run by Sonoe Azum - and send your stuffed toy for a vacation instead. They'll send you pictures of it from around the world. Sonoe believes that living your dreams through others is as rewarding as living them yourself. 9. And the last but one of the most amazing: Richard Branson lost a bet to AirAsia owner Tony Fernandes and had to dress up as an air hostess complete with the red dress, lipstick and mascara. And he had to serve passengers in an AirAsia flight. Not to say, Mr. Branson carried it off pretty well! Click the image below to watch the video! Wondering where the 10th one is. I am still looking for a good one to put on this blog. Can you suggest some? Please comment and share the most unusual travel tales you know.
