HILL STATIONS
A couple of months ago, our family saw themselves on a flight to Coimbatore, all set for a reunion after a gap of 7 years. Upon reaching the airport, we took a bus that would take us to the end destination: Ooty. We had booked an experiential holiday package from MakeMyTrip because it seemed like something out of the ordinary, but little did we know that we were in for a trip of a lifetime!
Ooty is a picture perfect hill station dotted with bungalows, temples, expansive green gardens, well-manicured lawns and lush green forests covering the hill slopes. A toy-train makes its way along the winding path on the hill far away in the distance, and you can’t help but wonder if you could leave the busy city life and settle down in this calm, beautiful town. The air is fresh, there is no sound of vehicles to disturb the peace, and you can sit in leisure all day and enjoy that cup of freshly-brewed coffee from your front porch and never get bored.

We spent the first day relaxing in the hotel at Ooty. The second day was dedicated to adventure. We woke up early that morning and set out on a road trip to Avalanche Lake, a lake that lies 40km away from Ooty. Panoramic landscapes, blooming flora and fauna and a massive lake in front of us had us gaping in awe at the finesse with which Mother Nature had crafted this beautiful setting. Waterfalls sparkled in the distance from the mountains all around. We walked around the lake, explored the surrounding forests, and even went boating in the calm waters!
The second half of the day was just as exciting, with a visit to the deer park, a tea garden and a chocolate factory (the kids in the family were beyond excited!). Our last stop was the Wax Museum, after which we headed back.
Thanks for such a beautiful family holiday, MakeMyTrip; we would have never realized that so much could be experienced in this laid-back town.
