Before you read further, let’s have a moment of silence for people who think Africa is just about safaris through the savannah grassland. Adventurers will find enough ideas in the next few paragraphs to make them swoon in ecstasy. Let’s start with something most of you would know…

Shark Diving - Cape Town

Don’t know about it? Well here's a lowdown. We checked out some companies offering shark diving tours. There methods appeared pretty safe. But hey, your mind won't accept the existence of that cage around you when that great white shark attacks it. With so much fear engulfing you, just one shot at this won't be enough, right? Well, Gansbaai, just a two hour drive from Cape Town and the focal point of all of shark activity, organises week long shark diving tours. Be it Cage Diving with the great whites or Kelp Diving with seals and 7-gill cow sharks or a daylong adventure at the seal island - you'll narrate this experience to every one you meet. Be sure of it…we’re telling you!

River Rafting - Zambia

Sorry, there are no Grade 5 rapids on the Zambezi River! That’s because the rapids and the waters you'll encounter here don’t fall in to such puny classifications. About 3400 kilometres long, the Zambezi can take the most experienced paddler for an adrenaline gushing showdown. The faint of heart can satiate their nerves with a daylong paddling adventure; stopping just before the great plunge into Victoria Falls. If you're one of the others, the river will leave you gasping for breath while you schuss down the Devil’s Toilet Bowl and come up the Creamy Buttocks just to dissolve into Oblivion (names of some rapids). So do some justice to the reputation of Zambezi. Gear up for a week long rafting run, conquer every twist and bend and fly back to the top in a chopper looking down in disdain at the waters below. Do you have what it takes?

Abseiling - Table Mountain

Stepping off the top of the Table Mountain on to the vertical surrounded by awesome greens and the view of deep blue Atlantic Ocean - life will suddenly seem to have legitimate meaning. The best way to go about it is to contact a local company. Most of them also offer a combination tour including a hike to the top of the mountain and then abseiling down it.

Mountain Biking - Cape Town

Cape Town is Africa’s mountain biking heaven! It has some superb routes on the mountains around Cape Town’s beautiful vineries and also inside the Cape Peninsula National Park.

Located close to Swellendam, the De Hoop National Park near Cape Town has dedicated biking trails for everyone. Expert bikers will have enough difficulties to jump about on in areas around Swellendam. Port Elizabeth too has many dedicated biking trails. If you find yourself craving for a mountain biking session in Johannesburg, fret not. You'll find good company in the city’s many biking enthusiasts who enjoy weekend adrenaline rushes to one of the many nearby trails here.

Bungee Jumping - Victoria Falls

After rafting the Zambezi, this is one adventure you have to try before leaving Zambia. Close to about 111 meters high, the take-off point at Victoria Falls Bridge with the Zambezi flowing below seems a bit scary. However, experts in the art of bungee jumping will alleviate all of them in no time. If you what to try out something with your better half, we suggest the bridge swing and the bridge slide. What a way to stay together in adventure, eh.
