Want To Go ?

After deciding to go to New Zealand for our honeymoon, we were super excited when the wedding festivities neared conclusion. Yes, we were tired but our flight to New Zealand awaited us at Mumbai Airport!

After a 16-hour flight, we landed in Auckland where we spent a night to have a good rest before heading to our road trip. We stayed at Holiday Inn Auckland Airport Hotel as it was close to the airport.

1. Witnessing a Gorgeous Sunset at Muriwai Beach

An hour’s drive from Auckland, Muriwai Beach is a unique attraction, thanks to the thousands of birds that colonize the beach. The sunset is anyway gorgeous, but the many birds make the dusk even lovelier.

2. Admiring the Champagne Pool, Rotorua

Pinned as an attraction in the active geothermal area known as Wai-O-Tapu, Champagne Pool offers a chance to witness the stunning phenomenon of hot springs. Steam originates from the lake due to a geological process and creates a tempting palette of colourful shades in the lake.

3. Indulging in the Polynesian Spa, Rotorua

One of the best experiences in Rotorua was visiting the Polynesian Spa to indulge in a relaxation therapy overlooking Lake Rotorua. A private spa with the view of the attractive lake was a nice idea to spend some quality time with my better half.

4. Road Tripping from Christchurch to Queenstown

The drive from Christchurch to Queenstown was like a fantastic movie! The first half of this movie introduces you to the impressive mountains while the second half is all about gorgeous lakes. We took two pit stops on the way, one at Arthur’s Pass and another at Fox Glacier.

5. Bungee Jumping at Nevis, near Queenstown

Bungee jumping at Nevis was a very thrilling experience. Why wouldn’t it be? After all, you are jumping in a valley and freefalling from 134 metres! I don’t think I have had such a high dose of adrenaline ever in my life!

6. Skydiving over Glenorchy Lake

Another experience that shot our adrenaline levels was skydiving above the Glenorchy Lake. Glenorchy is a small town 45 minutes from Queenstown. There is a skydiving site here from where you can fall out of an airplane from 12,000 feet while it is gliding over the stunning lake! Yet another treasured adventure activity & memory for us to value for life.

7. Luge Riding in Queenstown

This was a unique experience nevertheless quite similar to go-karting, but the vehicle was much simpler. Situated atop a hill, the luge track offers multiple points from where you can marvel at the striking landscapes as you speed along.

8. Flight & Cruise Experience at Milford Sound

Another brilliant experience was at Milford Sound. When we were in Queenstown, the weather had not been the best due to an unexpected storm. We wanted to drive to Milford Sound, which was around a 3.5-hour drive from Queenstown, but the rains had washed away the roads. So we opted for the flight experience and then a subsequent cruise. It was a very convenient journey where we enjoyed our time at Milford Sound.
