Proudly adding on to the Delhi – Varanasi trains’ list, Vande Bharat Express has been flagged off by PM Narendra Modi recently. A fresh take on the Shatabdi Express brand of trains, the ‘Vande Bharat Express’ not only got a name revamp, but also, replaced the legacy of the three decade-old Shatabdi Express (third fastest train in the country) running at 130 Kmph.

Launched on the 15th of February 2019, the train marked the launch of India’s first ever engineless train and also the very first train to have been constructed from scratch, in India. Vande Bharat Express’ speed makes it the fastest engineless self-propelled train in the country, and is expected to reduce travel time by almost 4-5 hours!

Developed by city-based Integral Coach Factory in Chennai within an impressive 18 months and at a whopping Rs 100 Crore, the train boasts of two executive compartments in the middle with 52 seats each, and trailer coaches with 78 seats each.

Scheduled to run five days a week, the first commercial run of the train on February 17 had already been fully booked!
