SURPRISE ME!
As much as we’d like to believe, this image isn’t photoshopped. What looks like a deluge of candyfloss, is actually a river in Canada! The crystal blue waters of the Cameron Falls sometimes turn bright bubble-gum pink within seconds. No, rivers don’t blush and there’s no mumbo-jumbo to this either, but one has to be at the right place at the right time to witness this ethereal phenomenon.
When it rains heavily in the region, the water brings down copious amounts of a sediment called agrolite into the river, which turns it a very pretty shade of pink under the sunlight. Sometimes when the light is right, the waters are also known to turn tomato red! Science aside, the waterfall looks like something straight out of a fairy-tale, and is totally worth adding to your travel bucket list.
Located in Alberta’s Wateron Lakes National Park, the Cameron Falls is every photographer and nature nerd’s dream come true. If you’d like to catch the action live, plan your trip around spring/summer when the likelihood of heavy rainfall is high. You’d be extremely lucky to watch the magic unfold before your eyes!
Friendly note: Don’t let science come in the way of awe while soaking this in.
