One of the most popular holiday destinations in India, Goa offers the blend of spectacular landscapes, picturesque beaches, delectable seafood, colonial buildings, and a very vibrant nightlife. Our recent Goan holiday with the extended family was about all that and more!

Fishing with a Difference

We had holidayed in Goa before, but this time, we decided to try something different for a closer experience of the Goan way of life. After spending the first day at leisure, we set out for a Crab Catching Trip on Day 2. An exclusive country boat took us to the picturesque Sinquerim Jetty, a popular spot for fishing, dolphin spotting, and crab catching in North Goa. I had always wanted to try out fishing, but never thought that my first catch would be crab!

The instructor on board gave us fishing equipment and taught us several techniques for catching crabs. While we lounged on the boat and waited excitedly for a catch, the on-board complimentary drinks and snacks were great to munch on, and the scenic beauty all around made the experience even more spectacular.

This 2-hour expedition turned out to be a fun learning experience for the entire family, with the kids being most excited to get back to the hotel for a delicious crab curry made from the day’s catch. Seafood lover or not, I would totally recommend this exciting crab catching trip to anyone looking for a quintessential Goan experience.

Goa Vacation Musts

While crab catching was the high point of our Goan holiday, we made sure to tick-off the standard Goan experiences in our free time. A lazy afternoon amidst the white sand and red laterite rocks of Anjuna beach, some quiet time at Fort Chapora, and spectacular sunset views at Vagator beach. We also checked out a few popular bars at Arambol beach at night for an experience of Goa’s happening nightlife. Before heading out to the airport, a walk by the charming streets, beautiful churches, Portuguese buildings, and lively bars of the capital city Panjim, made for the perfect end to this extraordinary Goa holiday.

One can never have enough of this beach capital of India! Thank you MakeMyTrip for giving me another memorable Goan holiday with this experiential package.
