Being a student of history, heritage towns have always fascinated me, with Jaipur being a personal favourite! One can never have enough of its rich history, old-world charm, beautiful gardens and vibrant culture. I therefore jumped with excitement as soon as I chanced upon MakeMyTrip’s offbeat cycling package of Jaipur.

En route the Pink City

Soon, me and my adventure-loving friends were all set for a one-of-a-kind experience of the Pink City. We flew to Delhi from our respective hometowns, and were picked up from Delhi Airport for a 5-hour road journey to Jaipur amidst a lot of chatter. After checking-in at the hotel and spending a few hours at leisure, we set out to explore the majestic Nahargarh Fort, overlooking this historic city.

Sightseeing on a Bicycle

On the second day, we woke up all excited for a sightseeing tour of Jaipur on two wheels. With the cool early morning breeze on our faces, we pedalled through the city’s thick green forests, buzzing villages and colourful streets, dodging camels and autorikshaws, and savouring spectacular views of its heritage sites. This unique experience turned out to be an even more delightful way of exploring the city’s magnificent forts and palaces, and traditional bazaars and handicrafts, coexisting with modern structures and lifestyle.

Historical Jaipur

No holiday to Jaipur is complete without a visit to its iconic structures and historic landmarks. After a delicious breakfast at the hotel on the third day, we spent the afternoon admiring the marvels of the extraordinary Amer Fort, followed by a stunning Sound and Light show in the evening. Set within the fort walls, this mesmerizing spectacle took us back in time to the glorious history and traditions of the Rajputs.

Still wanting to explore more, we got up early the next morning for a visit to the famous Birla Temple, before bidding adieu to another wonderful holiday in this historic city.
