Want To Go ?

When you think of Goa, you think of driving around Goa partying with friends, thanks to popular Bollywood flicks like Dil Chahta hai and Dum Maaro Dum!  What if I tell you that there is more to Goa than just beaches, parties and music? If you do not believe your ears, here are the top five things to do in Goa that you did not know:

1. The Night Market

Saturday night bazaar at Arpora should be on top of your ‘things to do’ list.  From sumptuous food to herbs and spices to handicrafts, bags and accessories, you’ll find everything here. You could even chance upon designer jewellery, rugs and even beautiful carpets in this place. This market has been featured in many Bollywood films too!

2. Home to Wildlife Sanctuaries

Goa is home to several wildlife sanctuaries that remain open throughout the year.  Mollem National Park is located towards the eastern border of Goa, approximately 70 kilometers from the capital, Panjim. The Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Cancona, South Goa and the Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary is located towards northeastern Goa. These sanctuaries have abundant wildlife and species of migratory and local birds along with flora and fauna unique to the area. In addition, you’ll also find the majestic Dudhsagar Falls on the fringes of Mollen National Park.

3. The Charms of Old Goa

Old Goa is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India, and is a UNESCO listed World Heritage site. The place has several beautiful churches like Se Cathedral, the Church of St. Francis of Assisi and Basilica of Bom Jesus. Take out at least half a day to visit this side of Goa.

 4. The Siolim Cooking School

If you are fond of Goan cuisine, then during your next trip, take these cooking classes to bring back some mouth-watering recipes home! This cooking school is part of the popular heritage hotel- Siolim House in North Goa.
