As a student of Hogwarts, walking around London has been an exercise in wonder. The place is sprinkled with locations where the famous scenes from the movie Harry Potter were shot.

We try hard to maintain the secrecy of our world from Muggles (non-magic people) but ever since Voldemort experienced Avada Kedavra, there’s not been much action in our lives. So Potterheads, we now reveal the magical locations you can visit to relive the days of Dumbledore, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and Harry.

1.  King’s Cross Station

Who can ever forget Platform 9 ¾! The train station bustling with the energy of first year students waiting to get to Hogwarts aboard the Hogwarts Express.

Tip: Get a picture clicked on the spot at King’s Cross commemorating platform 9 ¾, there’s a trolley halfway through the wall! Don’t forget to buy the school uniform or scarf from the nearby souvenir shop. (Real students get an Owl post, #justsaying)

2.  London Zoo

The scene where Harry releases the Burmese python was shot at the Reptile House, London Zoo in Regent’s Park. This was the first instance of Harry speaking Parseltongue (language of serpents) in Philosopher’s Stone. There’s a plaque marking the spot.

3.  Harrow School

Professor Flitwick sure can bore people with his longish lectures on Charms but a trip to the Fourth Form Room will bring you right back to the interesting classes at Hogwarts. This is the oldest room at Harrow School, Middlesex, built in 1615.

Tip: Carry your wand along and say Wingardium Leviosa (remember to enunciate else you’ll get blown up like Seamus Finnigan!)

4.  The Millennium Bridge

One of the best ways to see the city of London is from the Millennium Bridge over the Thames. Death Eaters sure did try to demolish this bridge in The Half Blood Prince but fear not, it stands tall! You can catch wonderful views of the Houses of Parliament from here.

5.  Great Scotland Yard

The plot thickens at the Ministry of Magic where Voldemort makes his first public appearance. This is also the Great Scotland Yard, where the exterior shots of the Ministry of Magic were filmed for The Deathly Hallows Part – I. You can get there via the Westminster Tube Station if your broomstick is unavailable.

6.  Leadenhall Market

Muggles, this is The Leaky Cauldron at Diagon Alley, where we get all our school supplies and wands. The scenes were first shot for Philosopher’s Stone with Hagrid introducing Harry to the magical world. You can even buy a broomstick here! Parts of Diagon Alley were also filmed in Borough Market. The secret entrance is still hidden but walking around the narrow lanes will transport you back in time for sure.

7.  Oxford

Parts of scenes for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry were shot in Oxford. The great dining hall where food appears on never ending benches with a flick of a wand were shot in Christ Church College. Duke Humfrey’s Library at Oxford was the scene for the restricted section of the Hogwarts Library. You don’t need an invisibility cloak to access this section now.

Till the time you get the Owl, visit these places for a reminiscence of the magical world of Harry Potter and remember if anyone asks for a password, it’s Sherbet Lemon.
