The symbol of Scotland and Edinburgh, this is an attraction that’s ideal for families. The Edinburgh Castle is one of the most sought-after historic sites in UK. Located in the centre of the capital city of Scotland, this scenic fort will blow your mind away. Even if you just have one hour in hand, you can quickly check out all the highlights of the castle. Entry Ticket: For ages 16 and above, the entry ticket costs £19.50 at the venue and £17.50 online. Senior citizens of over 60 years of age can buy the ticket for just £16.00 at the venue and £14.00 online. While the little ones from 5 to 15 years, get the ticket for £11.50 (offline) and £10.50 (online). Kids below the age of 5 can enter without any ticket but must be accompanied by an adult.
Kids with a scientific bent of mind will thank you for taking them to the Glasgow Science Centre! Science isn’t their thing? A visit to this museum will still fascinate them and definitely develop a curiosity in their minds. Spread across 3 floors with hundreds of interactive exhibits and a Science Mall, this is a one-of-a-kind place. While here, you can also catch the IMAX Documentary at one of the largest IMAX screens in Scotland and visit the Planetarium for an out-of-the-world solar system experience.
Also, this is a baby-friendly place where you can breastfeed and heat baby food at the café.
Entry Ticket: A day entry ticket for 16 and above is for £11.50 (without donation- £10.45). While children from 3 to 15, senior citizens above 60, the unemployed and students, need to pay £9.50 (without donation- £8.60). Kids less than 3 years old, are free to enter without any tickets. Extra add-ons range from £2.50 to £6.50.
On Leeman Road, just a few minutes away from the York Station, lies one of the world’s largest rail museums that’s all about the history of trains and their impact on the British society. Do not miss this one, as here you can see almost 300 different trains and several artefacts. Check out Mallard, the fastest steam train in the world, along with many royal trains too. The luxurious royal carriage which was used by Queen Victoria is also displayed here.
Kids will love hopping on to the age-old carriages, riding a mini train, and being a part of the entertaining science shows. The museum also offers a play area for children less than 5 years old. Oh! Don’t forget to relish a traditional English afternoon tea at the Countess of York, which is adorned with the décor of a beautifully restored railway carriage.
