One of the top consumers of gold in the world, India is lately experimenting with edible gold in food. The latest delicacy to join this list is none other than a gold-plated dosa, and it has been on the block for a while! Started by the popular restaurant Rajbhog in Bangalore, this one-of-a-kind dosa has been a huge hit amongst both locals and tourists.

This luxury version of the dosa is roasted to a light crisp in olive oil, filled with mashed potatoes, and covered with a layer of 24-carat pure gold foil, which is not just edible but ISO certified.

Righty served on a silver platter along with a tumbler of coconut water, the gold-plated dosa is sure to make you feel like royalty.

However, a delicacy so unique doesn’t come so easy. Priced at Rs. 1,011, the gold-plated dosa is not just one of India’s most unique dishes, but also one of the most expensive.

Among the restaurant’s other exclusive dishes is a dosa with silver foil, priced at an affordable Rs.151. Since the introduction of these unusual dosas in 2011, the restaurant has witnessed a drastic increase in footfall and therefore plans to patent these innovations.
