Want To Go ?

I keep my bags packed, just in case someone drops the word ‘trekking’. My adventure-enthusiast boss recently revealed plans for trekking up Nag Tibba, one of the highest peaks in the lesser Himalayan regions of Uttarakhand. Before she could ask me to join in, I had already invited myself in. The next morning, we reached a designated spot where a vehicle awaited to take us to our first stop Mussorrie, over an eight hours drive. This quaint hill station welcomed us with delightful weather and cool breeze, and after a great meal by the bonfire, we retired to our room for a comfortable night’s rest.

Exploring the Quaint Hill Villages

The next morning we began our journey to Pantwari, a beautiful village from where we started walking towards our camp. Enroute, we spotted many unique bird species, several old Himalayan settlements marked by stone structures, and lush green environs. After reaching the camp, we decided to soak in our stunning surroundings. I hadn’t been surrounded by such peace and quiet in the longest time. Watching the sunset was a delight after a long day of walking around, as was the warm campfire and a delicious barbecue meal under a star-studded sky. Later we retired to our tent to gear up for the trek the next day.

Trekking into the Heart of Garhwal Mountains

We set out for the trek early in the morning, and were lucky to spot spotted native birds and animals in abundance. The trek was a comfortable one and throughout the route, we were treated to delightful views of the beautiful Garhwal region. From the top, we witnessed mesmeric views of Himalayan ranges like Swargrohini, Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, Srikanta and Gangotri. After an immensely satisfying day of being surrounded by pristine beauty, we returned to our base camp and finished off the day with a dinner by the bonfire.

The Tewa Trek

The next day, we embarked upon another trek to Tewa village.  On this five-hour-long journey, we savoured the beauty of dense forests and picturesque villages. I just couldn’t stop clicking pictures all through the way! By evening we reached Landour, a small cantonment town carpeted with old-growth forests of Cedar, Himalayan Oak and thick deodars. Here we checked into our hotel for an overnight stay.

Something Touristy to Wrap it all up!

The next morning we returned to Mussoorie and after some exciting shopping at the Mall Road, we went to have tea at Rokeby Manor and enjoyed our cuppa over some lovely conversations with an old Tibetan couple. It had been a long day, and we went to bed almost straight after reaching our hotel. The next day, we were to leave back for Delhi.

This awesome three-day getaway was my much-deserved break from the city hullabaloo—thanks to MakeMyTrip for organizing everything so well.
