Applying for a Pre-arrival Registration for Hong Kong Visa? We’ve Got You Covered

The list of countries offering visa on arrival for Indians has enabled us to tick many destinations off our bucket list. But, recently the Immigration Department of the Government of Hong Kong tightened its laws and has opted out of that long list. Indians who wish to explore the wonders of Hong Kong will have to apply for a pre-arrival registration, instead of obtaining a visa-on-arrival (apply here). 

To define the registration process in detail, the Immigration Department of the Government of Hong Kong has launched a video.  

Some important points:

• The Pre-arrival Registration (PAR) application gives an immediate online result. A successful PAR is valid for 6 months from the date of application and is valid for multiple entries into Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) during that period, for visits up to a maximum of 14-days.
• Please ensure that the details entered on the PAR application are correct and matches with the information on the passport exactly, before submitting the online application.
• Data inconsistency between the notification slip and the details mentioned in the Indian passport will render the registration invalid and lead to refusal of boarding a conveyance bound for the HKSAR and entry to the HKSAR. 
• You can reprint a notification slip by visiting this link. To use this function, you are required to enter the Indian passport number, select the Identification Question chosen and provide the exact answer submitted during the registration process.
• If one gets an unsuccessful PAR, please immediately proceed to apply for a VISA directly with the Hong Kong Immigration Department in Hong Kong. You can visit this link for more information. A visa fee of HKD 190 per passport must be made to the Immigration Department in Hong Kong dollars via Bank Draft.
• Visa applications are to be submitted direct to Immigration Department in Hong Kong and the Chinese diplomatic and consular missions are not in a position to accept the visa applications. In the case of queries, clarifications etc. please note that the agent or the traveller will need to liaise direct with the Immigration Department in all cases.
• The visa application process can take up to four weeks upon receipt of the required documents. The originals of the documents must be sent by post or courier together with the bank draft to Hong Kong Immigration Department. • Should the application be urgent, it is recommended to fax the required documents to Hong Kong Immigration Department at +852 2824 1133 in the first instance. The fax message should include a cover letter explaining the urgency of the application, and should also include the PAR information of any accompanying person(s) who is/are traveling together with the applicant.
