Hello fellow travellers, we've got your Christmas presents a little early this year! There’s good news for people travelling to India on a business trip or to visit family and friends. In an effort to boost tourism, India has recently introduced an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) facility that allows citizens of over 40 countries to obtain Indian visa on arrival.

How Does It Work?

Foreign travellers must apply for an online authorization four days prior to the date of travel. The ETA will be issued after paying a non-refundable fee and is valid for 30 days from the date of arrival in India. An online confirmation will be sent within five working days for the same.

Which Countries Are Eligible For ETA?

Citizens of the following countries will be able to get the Indian visa on arrival:

Australia Brazil Cambodia Djibouti Fiji
Finland Germany Indonesia Israel Japan
Jordan Kenya Kiribati Laos Luxembourg
Marshall Islands Mauritius Mexico Micronesia Myanmar
Nauru New Zealand Norway Oman Palau
Palestine Papua New Guinea Philippines Russia Samoa
Singapore Solomon Islands South Korea Thailand Tonga
Tuvalu Ukraine United Arab Emirates United States Vietnam

This is just the beginning. In phase 2 of ETA, Indian visa on arrival will be available for citizens in over 100 countries! Watch this space for updates!
