The classic combination of Sun, Sand & Beach pulls every heart to the spirited Goa. Though, the city gets flooded during the seasonal rush, the seemingly simple & swarmed coastline of Goa discreetly veils away some of its most surreal beaches from the visitors.

Here’s a list of secret beaches in Goa for the ones who seek the unusual.

Lesser Known Beaches in North Goa:

Kalacha Beach

Also called Paliyem Beach, Kalacha is listed among the most picturesque beaches of Goa and is admired for its sweet water lagoon, coconut & palm groves, encircling huts, bohemian vibe and Rajasthani styled-tents. The unspoiled beach is surrounded by a green sheet of overbearing slopes & is home to exotic birds and monkeys around the lake. You can reach Kalacha Beach by talking a walk for 10 minutes along Arambol Beach.

Major attractions in Kalacha Beach:

Siridao Beach

Also known as the Shiridon Beach, it is one of the most fascinating places to visit in Panjim. The beach is blessed with a dramatic landscape of scattered rocks and smooth sandy strips. A shell collector’s heaven, the beach has a number of mysterious caves for the adventure lovers. The closest attraction from the beach is the Chapel of Jesus of Nazareth seated at the top of the verdant hillock. It is located 8 km from Panjim Kadamba Bus Stand and 1.8 km (down Siridao Road) from Bambolim Beach.

Major attractions in Siridao Beach:

Sinquerim Beach

Located close to the well-known Fort Aguada, this Goan beach has an excellent shoreline to enjoy a long leisure walk without any inconvenient interruptions. Though, the beach has a number of resorts & adventure sport facilities like scuba diving, water skiing, fishing and wind-surfing, it is well preserved from the commercial buzz of other beaches. Sinquerim is mostly popular among upmarket tourists and you can easily spot some of the most amazing nightclubs & eateries in Goa.

37 km away from Margao, this hidden treasure of a beach is perfect for travellers who crave the surreal drama created by the setting Sun & the sea breeze. Take leisure walks, set an overnight camp or just sit here for a few hours amid the tranquility of the surroundings at this palms-lined hidden beach, which although is lesser known, can give a stiff competition to the best beaches in Goa. 10 minutes away from Palolem Beach, the closest railway station to Agonda is Marago. Also, Agonda Beach is one of the only four beaches designated as turtle nesting sites under the Coastal Regulation Zone.

Major attractions in Agonda Beach:

Butterfly Beach

A short distance away from Palolem Beach lies the untouched scenery and privacy of Butterfly Beach. Located on the Butterfly Island, the island takes its name from the kaleidoscope of butterflies flying over the wild blossoms surrounding the beach on three sides. The easiest way to get here is to hire a ride from Agonda or Palolem Beach and then a 2-hour trek through the surrounding forests. The crystal clear water is absolutely worth the sweat!

Major attractions in Butterfly Beach:

Velsao Beach

Located northwards from the well-known Majorda and Colva beach in South Goa, this is an ideal place to spend your day. The white sands of Velsao are quiet breathtaking with surrounding areas dotted with paddy fields, lakes, country roads, coconut groves and old bungalows. Feel free to rejuvenate yourself in the warm waters and pure air, away from the hustle and bustle of other crowded beaches. There are direct buses services available from Panaji to Velsao and the infamous Three Kings Chapel is only 3.7 km from the beach.
