Sun kissed skin, roller skates and Hollywood: fashion in Los Angeles is about being daring and catching the attention of the paparazzi.  LA Fashion Week brings its own imitable all American style to the established institution that isan international Fashion show. As a relative newcomer on the global fashion circuit, this celebration of fashion doesn’t compete with established shows such as New York Fashion Week. Instead, it leverages its own energy to bring a different spin to the world of American fashion.

California Dreaming

The Fall Winter Show will be held from March 9−16, with the upcoming collections on display from some of the world’s best designers.  With a focus on variety, you can expect to find everything at this show from functional ready to wear to contemporary designs from up and coming designers.

To keep it fresh and different, the shows at LA Fashion Week feature a range of apparels aside from the expected ready to wear and haute couture, expect to find the latest for the trend-setting child in your life, or if you have a shoe addiction to match Carrie Bradshaw there is even a special shoe event.  For the hottest looks and innovative styles, this Los Angeles event should not be missed.

Lives of the Rich and Famous

Of course, any fashionista shouldn’t miss shopping in LA, and nowhere has more glitz and glamour than Rodeo Drive. Pick up some timeless jewels from Tiffany & Co to a daring outfit from Versace or a pair of the highest Jimmy Choo’s there is something to make anyone look like a million dollars. For something a bit funkier, Melrose Place is the place to shop with some niche boutiques and new designers.

Catch a glimpse of some celebrities strolling down Hollywood Boulevard, and stop at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and see whose celebrity shoes you could fit into at the famous Walk of Fame. To really feel like the rich and famous, you could head to Sunset Boulevard and have a quiet drink at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel, whose past guests include John Wayne, Elizabeth Taylor and Howard Hughes. If you don’t spot a movie star, you can always go to Universal Studios and feel like you are in a movie.  With real sound-stages and sets from famous films and television series, you can have the surreal experience of standing amidst the towering skyscrapers of New York whilst enjoying the LA sunshine.

California Girls

Not quite glitzy, but definitely an all American experience can be found at Venice beach. California girls roller-skate past as surfer boys wax their boards, and some people perform street theatre. This is the place to people watch and take in everything that the city of Angels has to offer. What else, you might even pick up a great swimsuit here!

To see LA in style, perhaps also get a tan and experience some Hollywood glamour, head to one of the newer features on the global fashion circuit, LA Fashion Week.
