The Artsy Delights

 

Also known as an ‘archipelago out at sea’, Louvre Abu Dhabi houses funky pre-historic and modern artworks — some of which are loaned from renowned French museums! Its 12 galleries talk about humanity through a series of twelve chapters, that come with an introduction.

Hey history buffs! Do not miss out the starry collection of more than 600 masterpieces at the museum, that come from all around the world, telling unique stories of their own.

Little ones can have some fun too! There is a Children’s Museum spread across two floors, that offers several interactive workshops and exhibits for the six to twelve year olds. Louvre Abu Dhabi also holds 4 major exhibitions across the year, along with many other calendar events.

What’s More?

 

Many group tours and guided tours are also organized by the museum, that includes many engaging activities for adults.  Experience the museum in your own way by taking an audiovisual guide tour, available in many languages. From enjoying HD pictures, 3D views, and stories of the museum, to video interviews with stakeholders — go find your way through the museum by using an interactive map that works on geo-tracking. You can take IPads from the ticket hall, or download the app on your very own tablet or smartphone too. For visually or hearing impaired visitors, adapted content is available in English, French, and Arabic from the Multimedia Guide desk. 

Another great thing about Louvre Abu Dhabi is its extensive tourist-friendly facilities:  wheelchair friendly settings, while strollers, cloakrooms, and lockers are available for your convenience. You will also find valet parking,  baby-changing facilities and tactile stations here.

Eat, Shop, Repeat

Tired of touring? Chill at the on-site Aptitude Café, one of Abu Dhabi’s specialty coffee shops. The café brews and serves some of the finest coffee beans from across the world. Do enjoy your coffee with desserts, pastries, and other yummy snacks. You can also learn about the process of coffee making here.

If coffee is not on your mind then the Art Lounge should be your haunt! This roof-top lounge bar is where you can witness an epic sunset, while enjoying a Tapas-style menu of small bites, available in gluten-free and vegetarian options too. Wagyu beef sliders, fish kibbeh, vegetarian gyozas are some recommended sides, to be paired with an extensive cocktails menu.

An interactive adventure tour to discover how artists through the course of history have used clothes as medium to convey facts about people clad in them.

Charlie Chaplin: When Art Met Cinema

The exhibition, through drawings, photographs, sculptures, film scenes and archives, intends to draw a parallel between the works of Charlie Chaplin and those of his contemporaries and seek to understand how this concoction changed the world in the first-half of the twentieth century.

Kayaking at the Museum

Take a tour of Louvre Abu Dhabi on a kayak to soak up history and to admire its architecture.

Time: Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 7:00 pm (60 minutes duration)
