Bird Watching at Pimpalgaon Joga Dam – The 5-kilometre long Pimpalgaon Joga Dam built over the mesmerizing Pushpawati River is one of the main attractions in Malshej Ghat. The scenic background of rolling hills adds to the beauty of the dam. The dam is also a haven for several migratory birds like pink flamingos. With birds like Alpine Swift, Whistling Thrush, Quail, Purple Moorhen and Pied Crusted Cuckoo making regular appearances, the place is a delight for birdwatchers.
Trek Up to Harishchandragad Fort – A visit to Malshej Ghat is incomplete if you do not trek up to Harishchandragad Fort, a 6th century monument located at a height of 1,424 metres above sea level. Many devotees line up to pay obeisance to Lord Vishnu at the beautifully carved Vishnu Temple here. Another prominent attraction here is the Buddhist Caves situated close to the Harishchandragad Fort.
Rock Climbing at Ajoba Hill Fort – The Ajoba Hill Fort is a favourite among adventure enthusiasts. It is a trekker’s delight as the trail passes through lush green landscape and the weather is cool and calm. People also come here for rock climbing.
Enjoy the Cascading Waterfalls – The beauty of Malshej Ghat is enhanced manifold by the many cascading waterfalls that you find as you make your way here. Both big and small, these waterfalls are popular picnic spots for visitors coming to Malshej Ghat on a day trip.
Hit the Trekking Trails – Malshej Ghat is a favourite among trekkers. Whether you are a first-timer or a seasoned trekker, there are trails of all kinds to suit your convenience. Among the most popular trails are Ajoba Hill Fort, Darkoba Peak, Jivdhan Chawand Fort and Nane Ghat. Make sure that you carry a raincoat as it can rain anytime.
