SURPRISE ME!
My mother, sister-in-law and me, along with my 4-year old girl and two nieces (12 years and seven months), travelled to Singapore! We got the visa processed through a travel agent. As we were all women travelling with our kids, the documents required were authorization and NOC from our husbands. A visa for Singapore takes only 3 days to process.
We landed in Singapore on 5 May, had breakfast and bought sim cards. Then we headed to Ramada Singapore Zhongshan Park where we had booked our stay. The hotel was a good choice as the rooms were spacious (hardly the case in Singapore), the service was efficient and all essentials were available within a close distance. The only issue one could face there was that no Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station was close to the property. Nevertheless, that was not a problem for us as we had a baby so preferred cabs.
The next morning, I had booked all our tours online before we headed out. Therefore, we did not have to suffer in the queues. We started sightseeing with Singapore Botanic Gardens, where the entry was free of cost yet the National Orchid Garden there had a small entrance fee. It was nice and we saw a large collection of orchids.
The Gardens by the Bay
The next day, we visited Orchard Road for some retail therapy. In the evening, we headed to check out Gardens by the Bay. The entry was free but for Cloud Forest and Flower Dome, there was a ticket. I loved the world’s highest indoor waterfall at Cloud Forest!

Then we headed to one of the tallest Ferris wheels in the world- the Singapore Flyer! From there, you can view the whole of Singapore. The wheel moves at a very slow pace and the attraction is not crowded as the ticket is very expensive. The next day, our destination was Singapore Zoo! The zoo had trams to take you to its various points so we got off at different stations to explore on foot. We even saw penguins! Adjacent to the zoo is River Safari where you can check out a freshwater aquarium, go for a boat ride named Amazon River Quest and meet a pair of giant pandas!
The following day, we checked out S.E.A. Aquarium on Sentosa Island. If you are into marine life, then do not miss it! We used the cable car to reach the island and further, used The Sentosa Express (free) for local transportation there. We went to Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom that did not meet our expectations! We also visited the fun Trick Eye Museum as well as experienced the award-winning musical show, Wings of Time.
We visited Sentosa Island even on our last day, as Universal Studios is also located there. This time, we caught The Sentosa Express from the VivoCity mall. We had limited time yet we covered “Lights, Camera, Action!”, “Madagascar: A Crate Adventure”, Shrek 4-D Adventure as well as a child friendly roller coaster.
Then we shopped at VivoCity, checked out from the hotel and headed to Singapore Changi Airport. Overall, we were impressed with how Singapore maintains a balance between technology and nature!
