When you want to turn your wallpaper into reality, you do not have to wait for someone to accompany you.

For reaching the Maldives, I took a flight from Ahmedabad to Male (Maldives) via Bangalore and Colombo (stayed in Sri Lanka for 8 days).

My stay in the Maldives was for 6 nights. A suggestion from me is that you need at least 5 nights to explore this beautiful country. If you are on a tight budget, then you can find accommodation on the local islands.

The Maldives has more than 1000 low-lying coral islands gathered into 26 atolls, comprising local islands as well as resort islands. Almost 99% of Maldives is water. You can go to an unexplored local island with beautiful views.

One can get a free tourist visa on arrival for 30 days. According to me, the best time to visit the Maldives is in the low season (April to October), to avoid the excessive costs. As a solo traveller, I felt that the Maldives is one of the safest countries to visit.

Public ferries are very accessible; you can find the timings online. For going to the resort islands, you can book a boat transfer or a seaplane transfer directly with the resort. Explore the local islands on foot or rent a bike.

Try the cuisine of the Maldives on the local islands. It is a paradise for seafood but there are also multiple options available for vegetarians and vegans.

Maldives Tour Packages covers a lot to do in the Maldives. Water sports like snorkelling or scuba diving is the best way to check out the coral reefs, sea turtles, manta rays and fishes. You can also go for sandbank tours, island hopping, boat parties, surfing, and dolphin watching or just relax at the beaches.

The Maldives were always on my bucket list but going there solo is an adventure, not many pursue. I already experienced goosebumps while researching about the places to visit and things to do. Tourism in the Maldives has gained immense popularity as this is a luxurious honeymoon destination but it is also possible to solo travel there on a budget. However, it is not a backpacking budget destination.

So far, I have travelled to 17 countries in three Continents and the Maldives will always have a special place in my heart. The corals, the water surfaces and the views of this paradise on Earth were breathtaking. I explored the local islands such as Hulhumale & Mafushi and visited the awesome resort islands.

While you travel to the local islands, you stumble upon unexplored natural views. Mafushi felt like home. I met other solo travellers from different countries and we could feel the same vibes for this stunning place.

You can have a feel of the luxury the Maldives has to offer by visiting the resort islands for a day trip or can stay at a budget accommodation available on a few resort islands. The views of the overwater villas, the delicious food, exciting activities such as fish feeding, cooking classes, spa, musical nights and more, are some of the things you can experience on the resort islands.

Snorkelling in the Maldives is an awesome experience; it was the best part of my journey! You can dive into the ocean and swim next to sea turtles, manta rays, vibrant coral reefs and colourful fishes.

You will fall in love with the world below the ocean more than the life above the ocean when in the Maldives.
