After a frivolous Day 6, We left Udaipur at 6:20 am with sandwiches, fruits and muffins for Mount Abu, a 158 km long drive on National Highway 27. As is natural, we relished our picnic breakfast.

Tariq was quick enough to click these higway daredevils who redefined ‘adjustment’.

Hotel Udai Garh - Royal Heritage Retreat

Our journey was complete at the end of 3.5 hours. Our hotel Udai Garh - Royal Heritage Retreat and the room were so pleasant and welcoming, we had to succumb to a power nap.

Guru Shikhar

Our energy levels replenished, we headed to Guru Shikhar – the highest point of the Aravalli Range rising to 1,722 metres. The kairi (raw mango) snack at the ticket counter is a must try.

We then hiked to the Vishnu Temple at the top. It wasn't easy!

Apollo Restaurant

Hungry from the hike, we headed to Apollo Restaurant for thali and dal baati choorma. The great food, hygiene and ventilation made Apollo the MakeMyTrip Trip Stop recommendation.

Dilwara Temples

Dilwara Temples came on our way back to the hotel. The pristine white marbles and jaw dropping architecture and craftsmanship welcomed us to Dilwara Temples. It’s incredible someone made these masterpieces between 11th and 13th centuries.

Nakki Lake

Just before dusk we walked from our hotel to Nakki Lake to witness the popular sunset.  Words can’t do justice to it, so here’s the image …

Tomorrow morning we end our tete-a-tete with Rajasthan and start for Bhuj in Gujarat. I leave you now with this super funny bird locally called the Sanjay Dutt Maina (any guesses why?).
