LUXURY GETAWAYS
The faint sound of a fountain played in the backdrop. As soon we alighted from our bus, we were received by the resort staff, dressed in crisp white uniforms. They carried our luggage to the reception and I took a moment to admire the surroundings. The afternoon sun was hidden behind fluffy clouds and a pleasant breeze swayed the palm trees gently. The beautiful resort stood covered by canopies of lush greenery. It was the onset of monsoon and the contrast between the grey skies and the lush green trees looked enchanting.
We entered the lobby and were welcomed by fresh coconut water and soothing music accompanied by a whiff of the ocean.
As we followed the staff to our rooms, we discovered ocean views from various spots in the hotel. Park Hyatt Resort & Spa is located on Arossim beach in the Cansaulim area of South Goa. Known for its white sand beaches, South Goa is nothing less than heaven for beach lovers. The crisp ocean breeze and non-touristy coast provide ample opportunities to bask in the glory of sunny beaches. However, due to the monsoon season, we would rather enjoy cloudy beaches and showers instead -- which has its own charm. We were excited to take a swim in the ocean later in evening along with the rain showers.
After checking into our rooms, we rested for a while. The beds were plus and comfortable, the rooms spacious with a unique charm of their own. The tastefully done furniture was impressive and it was hard for us to leave the room given the exuding comfort. But, the lovely beach summoned us and we eventually headed towards the ocean.
In the far horizon, a congregation of clouds had formed a dominating shadow over the ocean, indicating an impending shower. We wanted it to rain while taking a dip in the ocean. But, as the sun paced towards the horizon, clouds started to scatter and filtered sunrays bounced off the partially shimmering ocean. We still went ahead and took a dip, hoping that it would rain the following day.
While the sun slipped down the horizon we sat on the beach with feet tucked in the sand and our arms wrapped around our knees, admiring the sunset. The twilight sky was dominated by streaks of orange and pink as we headed back to our rooms. We decided to take a detour instead and strolled in the gardens on the hotel premises and discovered many bridges and ponds. The landscape was dotted with hundreds of palm trees and their shadows dancing with to the breeze.
We paid a quick visit to a magnificent swimming pool and were very impressed -- the clean waters magnified the tiles underneath and looked very inviting. When there is an ocean, I seldom opt to take a dip in swimming pool. But, this pool was so welcoming and we decided to take a quick plunge.
Famished from all the swimming, we reached the beach side restaurant to indulge in some scrumptious food. The next day, we went on bike rides. I have visited Goa many times and enjoyed bike rides on every possible occasion. But, this time, we were somewhat happier. Maybe because we were staying at Park Hyatt Resort!
Staying here was a memorable experience indeed. The location is just breathtaking, combine that with their impeccable service and delicious food, you have a complete experience! Highly recommended!
