Want To Go ?

My sister was graduating from Lund University in Sweden. This happy occasion called for a family holiday! That’s when my mom, sister and I decided to take a vacation to Greece. Here are seven places that I think everyone who visits Greece should go to.

#1 Acropolis, Athens

At 15 years of age, I wasn’t the happiest child visiting the Acropolis. I thought it was going to be really boring. To my surprise, it turned out to be quite the opposite. Acropolis was one of the most interesting and beautiful historic sights I had ever seen!

#2 Santorini, Oia

The sunset in Oia was gorgeous. The beautiful ocean views and positive vibes left me speechless. I just wish I could wake up to the same scenes every day.

#3 Petra

Petra is just 4 kilometres from Molyvos and has a charm of its own. With its small streets of cobblestone and hidden treasures, it was just the break we were looking for after driving for two hours. The place is said to have a great nightlife, but that’s something I’ll keep for the next time I travel with friends.

#4 Nea Kameni-The Volcanic Island

Nea Kameni is a volcanic island we visited during our tour from Santorini. The island was magnificent and is one of the only active volcanoes in the world. According to Greek Geologists, the volcano will erupt in the next few hundred years. With no habitation here, it serves only as a major tourist attraction.

#5 Crete, Chania

From Santorini we took a ship to Crete and from there drove to a small city called Chania. Chania is a typical European city and the most beautiful in Crete. As we walked along the small lanes surrounded by ancient brick walls, we couldn’t help but admire the traditional architecture of the hotels and houses, dating back to the Venetian and Turkish times. Chania seemed like a world of its own.

#6 Santorini, Imerovigli

santorini

Imerovigli is a small village in Santorini and not one on the tourist radar. The village is about two kilometers uphill from Imerovigli beach. It was while my mother and sister were relaxing on the beach that I decided to let my adventurous side loose and ran up the hill, leading to the village. It was beautiful and the views of the Aegean Sea from the top were magnificent. I have to say that running uphill and then down was completely worth the effort.

#7 Road Trip from Mytilene to Molyvos and Petra

mytilene road trip greece

We left early in the morning from Mytilene, en route to Molyvos and Petra. The road trip was a lot of fun, with gorgeous views and great music (courtesy my Bollywood music collection) to give us company. We stopped on the way for breakfast and realized that everything was so peaceful and beautiful. Although, Mytilene isn’t a tourist attraction and many tourists don’t even know about the existence of this beautiful island, but this was my favourite out of the lot!
