Get set for a quick getaway if you don’t have a lot of time on your hands via the Mumbai-Pune expressway to Lonavala. If you’re on a two-wheeler, you’ll have to take the old Mumbai-Pune highway route. Tiger Point is where you should definitely stop for a round of corn pakodas and chai on your way to Lonavala. Satara, Kolhapur and Sankeshwar are some places where you can stop for food and relaxation while on your way. While the NH4 route is a more straightforward one, the NH17 route is for the adventurous with its rugged roads, unexpected turns and not too many traffic lights. But remember, cellular signal is unpredictable here so it’s best to download a digital map on your smartphone which can be used in offline mode or just go old school and carry a paper map!

Hi Ragini, Congrats for this wonderful article, very well written & very informative too. I am a part time glamour photographer & usually my shoots are indoors. I have a client who wants her shoot to be done by the 1st week of May & is insisting on a roadtrip from Mumbai & shoot along the route. Can you please suggest any such route which is not just picturesque but also secluded but safe for a glamour shoot?
Ram | on 03 April 2018
Hi Ragini, we have a Labrador Retriever and we intend to go on a driving holiday with him from Mumbai end of April for about 5 days to a week. 6 to 7 hour drive at a stretch , maximum, would be ideal. Hills preferably or a beach resort. Could you please recommend suitable locations/ hotels/air b n b places that are nice and pet friendly. Budget is not a constraint. Many thanks and look forward to hearing from you soon. Ram
