I Managed to Travel Safely Across Europe Despite the Pandemic!

There is no doubt that travel as we know it, will undergo a massive transformation in the days ahead. The last few months have made us all adapt to a lot of changes. The 'new normal', as they say, has made its way into our lives and for travellers with itchy feet, wearing a mask at the airport isn’t the only change!

As Europe opens up after the corona crisis, everyone is busy planning trips. The weather is alluring, but the pandemic is just not over yet. The passionate desire to travel gets the better of your fear. However, some careful planning is essential.

Here are a few tips and tricks from a recent trip I took :

• Go for secluded and remote destinations: Luckily, Europe is blessed with several stunning villages, beautiful meadows, sparkling lakes and crystal clear rivers, all away from the highly populated regions. Even I chose a remote destination near the German border, Kranenburg.
• Give public transport a miss: Private vehicles are the need for the hour. An independent car will give you the convenience of carrying all the essentials while eliminating the need to make avoidable stops at crowded places. Regardless to say, a private vehicle offers social distancing from strangers.
• Contact the hotel in advance: Before booking your hotel, you can call the manager and ask about the safety protocol followed at the property. This interaction helps when you are uncertain about the safety measures that the hotel must be adhering to.
• Keep the mask on: Always make sure that your mask is on when you are in public. It’s a wise thing to carry a small bottle of hand sanitiser and to sanitise your hands as often as possible. Even social distancing is a great way to keep the virus at bay.
