This is the day my childhood retires. This is the day when my memories of playgrounds retire. This is the day when a whole generation of men and women retire to their rooms with a heavy heart. This is the day Sachin retires. Sachin’s last walk to his revered playing ground – believe me, it’s going to be a national event. Billion hearts would tremble and a billion pair of eyes would be watery. But as Sachin takes a bow, I think it’s time to see the milestones the God of Cricket has achieved – and the lucky places where the people got to see it.

Let’s start with Sachin Tendulkar's first centuries.

Debut: Sachin debuted against the fiery fast bowlers of Pakistan at Karachi in 1989.

One Day Debut: Again it was against Pakistan in 1989 at Played at Municipal Stadium, Gujranwala. He scored a duck in his debut match!

First Test Hundred: Sachin gave a trailer of things to come to the English team at Old Trafford, Manchester, by hitting his maiden test century.

First One Day International Hundred: This time it was the turn of the mighty Australians to see their nemesis in full flow. Sachin blasted the Australian bowlers all around the park and scored 110 runs. And yes, the crowd at Colombo absolutely loved it!

First Double Century in Test Cricket: People of Ahmedabad can boast for the entirety of their life – they were the ones to witness Sachin’s first double century in Test Cricket in October 1999 against the Kiwis. Sachin sent the New Zealand bowlers on a leather hunt as he amassed 217 runs!

First Double Century in One Day International: Sachin was the first man in the world to score a double century in One Day Internationals. He did this against the ferocious bowling attack of South Africa with the likes of Dale Steyn bowling at a pace of over 150 kilometres per hour! I am still kicking myself for not being in Gwalior at the Roop Singh Stadium to witness this historic event.

Sachin’s Last One Day International Century: It was against our spirited neighbours – Bangladesh – at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur.  Who could have known that it was the last time we would see Sachin get past the 100 mark in One Day Internationals…

Sachin’s Last Test Century: Of course, it’s going to be at Wankhede against the West Indies….

Sachin’s Last Double Century in Test Cricket: That’s again going to be at Wankhede against the West Indies ….. Climax abhi baaki hai mere dost….. As Sachin’s long innings come to an end, hopefully on Monday 18th November, 2013, we will keep supporting the Master Blaster, the Champion, Our Hero…… till his final walk back to the pavilion.

Thank You, Sachin!
