Want To Go ?

For all the fans of Charlie Chaplin, the legendary actor, filmmaker and comedian, here's something to take you back to his era of comedy and silent movies.

Charlie Chaplin's home, Manoir de Ban in Switzerland, has been converted into a one-of-its-kind museum, Chaplin's World, dedicated to his life and work. Opened to the public on 16th April 2016, Chaplin's World is located on the banks of Lake Geneva in Corsier-sur-Vevey, surrounded by a spectacular view of the Alps. This is where he spent the last 25 years of his life, with his wife Oona and their eight children, after being prohibited entry into the US over communist allegations.

The Studio

Chaplin's World celebrates one of the most popular silent film stars, bringing to life his classic movies and the man behind them. Beginning with a walk down the streets of 18th century London where he grew up, the museum recreates sets from his famous movies, giving visitors a chance to share in his experiences.

There are a number of interactive scenes and exhibits as well. The model of the giant machinery from his film 'Modern Times', the cabin swaying on the edge of a cliff from 'Gold Rush', and the restaurant from 'The Immigrant' provide excellent photo opportunities. Visitors can get clicked in the chair of the barber shop from the movie 'The Great Dictator', with a wax figure of Chaplin standing by as if to cut their hair.

The museum also showcases Chaplin's famous bowler hat and cane, his film costumes, scripts, and family portraits and photographs. His living room, dining room, library and other rooms have been refurbished, giving a glimpse of his daily life, dining habits and private family belongings. Another highlight of the museum are the 30 wax figures of Chaplin and his family, his co-stars, and other artists, celebrities and friends including Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill and Michael Jackson.

While at the museum, do sit back and enjoy one of his classics in the 150-seat cinema. We promise you'll love the experience!

The Tramp

A visit to Chaplin's world is incomplete without a meal at the on-site café-restaurant known as The Tramp. Located in an old farmhouse, its Chaplin themed menu and decor, wooden tables, and swinging doors are perfect for a complete Chaplin experience.

Before visiting, one must download the Chaplin's World mobile app for a perfect guided tour of the museum. An hour long, this tour is available in English, French and German. What's more, the Chaplin's World app can be downloaded without a 3G connection. The museum provides Wi-Fi access to assist visitors in downloading the app. In addition to the tour, the app contains about 100 unpublished images of Charlie Chaplin and his life, a map of the Manoir, and other relevant information for visitors.
