SURPRISE ME!
Thailand is synonymous with fun, and there are no excuses to miss the reverberating nightlife this country promises. Here’s presenting a city-wise list of the most happening clubs, bars and shows that’ll give you a preview of what Thailand’s nightlife is like. Trust me, this one time you will not regret skipping your beauty sleep.
When in Bangkok, think nothing else but absolute, unadulterated entertainment. Think energy, think excitement, and think guaranteed fun. Party like a celeb at Q Bar – this is one nightclub where all the famous people go. But worry not if you aren’t swanky enough; Q Bar welcomes all and sundry, you just have to be wild enough to rock all night! Although, if you’re in the mood for a more authentic vibe, head straight to Check Inn 99, a well-known cabaret bar and restaurant in the city. It has been around since the 1960s and retains its flavour from those times. The food is equally famous – settle on the steaks, I suggest. And then there’s Sky Bar for those who love discovering cities from high above. Perched up on the 63rd floor of The Dome at State Tower, it is one of the highest open bars of the world and offers an aerial view of the city. If you’re a history buff, make sure you do not, at any cost, miss the award-winning performance called Siam Niramit. Learn about the fascinating legends and beliefs of Thailand. Complete with exquisite special effects, colourful costumes, and spectacular set designs, Siam Niramit plays daily at 8 pm.
Put your shoes on and prime yourself for the most popular nightlife experience in Pattaya – The Walking Street. The half-kilometre beach-side street shuts out motorised traffic from 6 pm every night to welcome party pedestrians. Brightly-lit nightclubs flank both sides of the street, but you need to identify the best options available. Take your pick from the Red Car Bar, Mixx Discotheque, The Pier Disco Club, 808, Club Insomnia, Candyshop, Marine Disco, Play and Lucifer Disko. Don’t leave town without watching the Alcazar Cabaret, which brings together the best of music, extravagant costumes and stunning dance performances, all under one roof. If you’re in the mood for a bit of luxury, head to the Horizon Bar in Hilton Pattaya Hotel. Located on the 34th floor, the bar offers a fine view of the city’s skyline.
Go a little astray and chill (quite literally) at Bar Ice Samui, which as the name suggests, is a cool relief from the otherwise humid Thailand weather. Also, order flavoured vodkas – they’re a hit here. Green Mango at the Chaweng Beach is an inevitable party place for non-stop hours of dancing. Drink like a Viking at the Viking Bar or head to Ark Bar – both places are best known for cheap and good quality booze. Koh Samui is also known for its full moon parties that are held at the Haad Rin Nok beach, situated in the south-eastern part of the Koh Phangan island. Hordes of party buffs come together to groove to the beats of techno, trance, reggae, house and more. Make sure you check the calendar when you’re planning. There is, after all, nothing better than making merry al fresco.
Patong is the heart of all things entertainment in Phuket. Begin the night by walking along the beer bars on the Bangla Road. The watering holes here are affordable and aplenty, and there’s ample time for you to pick one that’s cheery. Allow some time to pass and take in the energy of the place – blaring music from every corner and neon-spirited streets – the city, you’ll notice, practically comes alive after midnight. Phuket is famous for its nightclubs and you must hop into one to experience the party scene there. Among the best ones are Famous, Seduction, The Factory and Beach Road’s Banana. But if you’re a fan of live music, then head to Patong beach. That is where you’ll find the best of restaurants, gay bars and massage parlours such as The Flying Handbag, Boat Bar, and the A-Go-Go show at Dempsey’s. The town buzzes with action all night long and a sleepless night spent in Phuket will be a promising one.
