One of the most charming cities in both Canada and the world, Vancouver charms everyone! It is a city that has it all—outdoor activities, sights, shopping, restaurants and lots more! If you’re planning your Vancouver itinerary, here are 10 things you must do here!
Hang out at this 52-hectare park with landscaped greens and exotic flora and fauna. A major attraction at Queen Elizabeth Park are the sculptures by renowned artist Henry Moore. The park also has tennis courts, a putting green and a fine-dining restaurant
A footbridge across the Capilano River, the 140-metre long and 70-metre high Capilano Suspension Bridge takes you to the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Explore several attractions in the park like the Living Forest exhibit with its West Coast rainforest ecosystem, Kia’palano, a totem pole park and the cantilevered walkway around the granite cliff called Cliffwalk.
Within the domed structure of the Bloedel Conservatory are over 200 free-flying exotic birds and 500 tropical plants and gardens. Within the temperature-controlled interiors, find a tropical rainforest habitat, a subtropical rainforest habitat with several blooming flowers including orchids and a desert zone with succulents and cacti. Also, visit the healing garden and gift shop at Bloedel Conservatory.
The picturesque VanDusen Botanical Garden houses an extraordinary collection of plants and features like the Korean Pavilion and Stone Garden. Make your way in and out of the Elizabethan Maze comprising 3,000 pyramidal cedars with a monkey tree at the centre of the labyrinth. Even if you’re not up to the challenge, watch others navigate their way from the observation terrace.
For all things local, head to the Granville Island Public Market with vendors selling ‘made in Vancouver’ goods. The island peninsula is a hub for shopping and entertainment and a favourite with locals for the variety of eateries and food shops. While here, also check out the Granville Island Brewing Company, Arts Club Theatre Company and Waterfront Theatre.
Looking to make new friends? Then the Vancouver Aquarium is the perfect place to do it. With aquatic attractions for all ages, the Penguin Encounter is a chance for you to have an interactive session with penguins under the supervision of a trainer. Learn about their habitat and conservation efforts undertaken by the aquarium.
