One of the most charming cities in both Canada and the world, Vancouver charms everyone! It is a city that has it all—outdoor activities, sights, shopping, restaurants and lots more! If you’re planning your Vancouver itinerary, here are 10 things you must do here!

1.       Be Outdoorsy at Queen Elizabeth Park

Hang out at this 52-hectare park with landscaped greens and exotic flora and fauna. A major attraction at Queen Elizabeth Park are the sculptures by renowned artist Henry Moore. The park also has tennis courts, a putting green and a fine-dining restaurant

2.       Walk Across the Capilano Suspension Bridge

A footbridge across the Capilano River, the 140-metre long and 70-metre high Capilano Suspension Bridge takes you to the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Explore several attractions in the park like the Living Forest exhibit with its West Coast rainforest ecosystem, Kia’palano, a totem pole park and the cantilevered walkway around the granite cliff called Cliffwalk.

3.       Go Birdwatching at Bloedel Conservatory

Within the domed structure of the Bloedel Conservatory are over 200 free-flying exotic birds and 500 tropical plants and gardens. Within the temperature-controlled interiors, find a tropical rainforest habitat, a subtropical rainforest habitat with several blooming flowers including orchids and a desert zone with succulents and cacti. Also, visit the healing garden and gift shop at Bloedel Conservatory.  

4.       Make Your Way Through the Elizabethan Maze at VanDusen Botanical Garden

The picturesque VanDusen Botanical Garden houses an extraordinary collection of plants and features like the Korean Pavilion and Stone Garden. Make your way in and out of the Elizabethan Maze comprising 3,000 pyramidal cedars with a monkey tree at the centre of the labyrinth. Even if you’re not up to the challenge, watch others navigate their way from the observation terrace.

5.       Experience Local Life at Granville Island

For all things local, head to the Granville Island Public Market with vendors selling ‘made in Vancouver’ goods. The island peninsula is a hub for shopping and entertainment and a favourite with locals for the variety of eateries and food shops. While here, also check out the Granville Island Brewing Company, Arts Club Theatre Company and Waterfront Theatre.

6.       Make Friends with Penguins at Vancouver Aquarium

Looking to make new friends? Then the Vancouver Aquarium is the perfect place to do it. With aquatic attractions for all ages, the Penguin Encounter is a chance for you to have an interactive session with penguins under the supervision of a trainer. Learn about their habitat and conservation efforts undertaken by the aquarium.

7.       Tour the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden

Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is an authentic representation of Ming Dynasty garden tradition and the first of its kind located outside of China. Take a complimentary guided tour of the garden, which is based on the principals of Feng Shui and Taoism. Admire the intricate landscaping and foliage along with pagoda-style pavilions, ponds and representations of Chinese symbols like fish, turtles, bats, dragons and phoenixes.

8.       Have Fun at Grouse Mountain

Summer or winter, Grouse Mountain at over 1,200 metres is the place to have fun! Get on the Skyride, an aerial tramway system that showcases panoramic vistas of The Peak of Vancouver. The Peak Chairlift Ride also offers stunning views all around. Take a guided eco-walk at the Grouse Mountain Refuge for Endangered Wildlife where you can also see the famous resident grizzly bears!

9.       Ride the Cinderella Pumpkin Coach in Stanley Park

A National Historic Site of Canada, Stanley Park is a 405-hectare urban oasis in the heart of Vancouver. With famous spots like Prospect Point, Rose Garden, Lions Gate Bridge, Beaver Lake and many colourful totem poles, explore this public park in a horse-drawn coach and choose to ride in the Cinderella Pumpkin Coach or White Limousine Style Coach. An 18-kilometre coastal mountain fjord, Indian Arm is a hidden gem within the Coast Mountain range. Take a cruise through this area that boasts of lush green forests, waterfront homes, wildlife and privately-owned islands.
