The alarm clock woke me up and like the day before, on my trip to Maldives Day 3, it was time to get dressed, have a quick bite at the restaurant and make our way to the docks to sign up for a snorkelling trip to Paradise.

Paradise and Coral Garden

The sun was out and so were we! I decided to wear the life vest that lets you dive under the water. I enjoyed diving down and swimming with the fish. On surfacing, I swam to the front of the group and caught up with a newly made friend. He showed me some eels, which were hiding in the coral. I continuously dived down to check what types of eels they were. They were called Zebra Moray Eels. They are to be known gentle and graceful with tourists but fearsome with the fishermen.

I was amazed to see the different varieties of fish here

I hung around the pool till lunchtime, after which I got ready for the last snorkelling trip to Coral Garden. My mom was tired and so I decided to go by myself. I went and collected my life jacket and got ready to leave. When we reached the snorkelling site, I was able to go in first (finally!) because I was the youngest and needed “special care“. I had to stay with the instructor at all times. That meant no roaming around and diving down for fun. I did not see that many fish but I saw a green sea turtle in the distance. I also saw a Titan Triggerfish. In the end the instructor let me dive down for a while because he knew I loved doing that. When I got back on to the boat, I had a long conversation with him about the fish we had seen. I said my final goodbyes and I got off the boat to join my mom at the restaurant.

The restaurant was called Kandu and it was built on stilts. Right below us, I could see black tip reef sharks and a stingray swimming around. I decided to go and swim with the reef sharks. I was scared at first but then my mom said that they were harmless. It was something I was frightened of but after doing it, I realized it was also of the most exciting experiences of my trip.

I will really miss Maldives!

So Long, Farewell…

The first thing I said when I woke up the following day was "I don't want to leave". Then the next thing I knew, I was packing my stuff.  I walked around the room with droopy eyes because I was so sleepy. In the restaurant I talked to my mom about my experiences and how I felt. When we were walking towards the jetty, I said my final bye-byes to the fish and the Titan Triggerfish. I really wanted to jump in to the water; I climbed on to the boat and had my last glimpse of the amazing Maldivian sea. We said bye to all the people who had taken care of us throughout our stay at Club Med Kani. As I looked out over the water and saw the other islands, replaying all the activities in my mind, a Flying Fish jumped out as if to say farewell!
