ROAD TRIPS
Today started early. Breathing fresh air from the outskirts in Yapral, which was our cosy family abode in Hyderabad, the feeling was quite special this time. It was 5 am and almost an hour’s drive lay ahead of us. Usually, Tariq and I are quite sleepy but after a short four hour long nap, our excitement knew no boundary to get to our destination for today– The Air Force Academy in Hyderabad. No, it was no ordinary visit but a tryst with the future air warriors of our country. And we were in for the passing out parade of this year’s batch of the Indian Air Force officers!
Oozing with valour with not a hint but a dollop of glamour, that’s what this year’s Air Force ‘coming of age’ parade was all about. Accompanied by our adult near and dear ones, we felt like a tiny bunch of wide-eyed kids as we witnessed aircraft like helicopters and fighting jet that defy the laws of the aerodynamics against a windy blue sky. Parents of the cadets waited with bated breath to meet their sons and daughters with their newly acquired, hard earned uniforms. The union at the Air Force ground was overwhelming for everyone. Do go if you have a sibling or a friend or for that matter, even a distant relative participating in the parade as the experience you get here is truly unforgettable. Here are some shots from my husband Tariq’s camera that have been captured exclusively for your eyes to feast on…
To the world, Hyderabad means biryani and we were no different. After a mind-blowing time at the Air Force Academy, we decided to experience the wondrous flavours of Hyderabadi biryani at none other than the Paradise restaurant. Boasting of multiple branches at prime locations in Hyderabad, this food chain has the likes of celebrities like Sachin Tendulkar and Dia Mirza who simply drool over their unique flavours.
We went to the Begumpet outlet of Paradise Restaurant with our non-vegetarian family and some vegetarian friends too! And in case, you think it’s just non-vegetarians who can savour the delicious biryani; let me tell you, there is something sumptuous to satisfy all distinct taste buds at this restaurant. I instantly lost my heart to the Kandahari chicken with its green chili punch that we polished off with Naan. It was then that the decision of giving them the Trip Stop recommendation was made. Next came, the appetizing over-the-top servings of the Hyderabadi biryani and we filled our stomach like there was no tomorrow. Seriously, haven’t stuffed myself like this in a long long time. I am told this is a common side effect of being in the City of Foodies…err Nizams!
After a hearty meal, it was time for some good sleep. Catch you tomorrow…
