1. Udupi | Distance from Bengaluru:  403 kilometres

​​Udupi is blessed with nature’s best. The lush green mountains of the Western Ghats flank the east and pristine sandy beaches skirt the waters of the Arabian Sea on the west. Udupi has many attractions including the Suspension Bridge, Udupi Sri Krishna Temple and Bahubali Jain Temple. However, the best kept secret in Udupi is its beaches which makes it a perfect weekend holiday from Bengaluru. Along with being pristine and picturesque, Kaup beach has an old lighthouse, Malpe beach is the hub of fishing actives and Shankaranarayana is famous for its Shankaranarayana Temple. Bengre beach is another little known treasure that’s relatively untouched by commercialisation in Udupi.

The famous Shore Temple along the Bay of Bengal dates back to the 8th century and is an architectural masterpiece along with the monolithic Pandava Rathas and Varaha Cave Temple depicting scenes from the Mahabharat. However, beyond its rich ancient history, Mahabalipuram boasts of a picturesque shoreline.  Away from the crowded part of town, the beaches are sand and sun soaked where you can indulge in water sports like jet skiing and windsurfing. 4. Mangalore | Distance from Bengaluru: 352 kilometres

The port city of Mangalore has the distinction of being one of the cleanest cities in India. Surrounded by the Arabian Sea to the west and Western Ghats to the east, this gem on the Malabar coast has some of the finest beaches. On the white sands of the rocky Someshwar Beach is the historical Somanath Temple. Ullal beach with its picturesque coastline of swaying palms and fisherman’s boats is idyllic in every way. The port town of Karwar is located at the mouth of the Kali River along the coastline of the Arabian Sea. The landscape of Karwar has it all – hills, backwaters and beaches with Devbagh beach being one of the main attractions. Its golden sand is inviting in every way and the location is perfect to indulge in some watersports like sailing and kayaking. Devbagh beach is also a hot dive spot as well.
