ADVENTURE
Imagine flying face-down over an all-natural mountainous setting the length of 28 soccer fields at a dizzying speed of 150 kmph. That’s exactly what the new longest zipline in the world has on offer. Set up in the rocky ranges of Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates, the zipline has earned a Guinness World Records title for being the longest in the world.
Running an impressive 2.83 kilometres, the Ras Al Khaimah zip wire has stumped the previous Guinness World Record holder, The Monster zip wire situated in Puerto Rico, which is 2.5 km long. Interestingly, the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority collaborated with the same team that has developed The Monster zip wire.
Apart from its length, the new zipline also boasts of an incredibly breathtaking setting. Suspended 1,680m above sea level over a mountainous terrain, it is quite a deviation from the popular tower to tower zip wire rides set up in the heart of urban centres elsewhere in the world.
The newly opened adventure ride is open to riders who meet the height and weight specifications—minimum weight of 45 kg and maximum 150 kg, and a minimum height of nearly four feet. To make sure riders have company on this exhilarating journey, there are two zip wires running parallel to each other, and you can book both the spots so that you have a partner by your side.
