Desert Greening
Partner: Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, Ladakh (HIAL)
Looking at the environmentally fragile ecosystem of Ladakh, we work with the Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, Ladakh (HIAL) and support their plantation projects. The mountainous terrain of Ladakh is shadowed by the glaciers that are melting at a faster rate due to the climate crisis. This makes the geography highly susceptible to flash floods. To ensure firming up of the soil and minimize run-offs, we are working with HIAL to undertake afforestation in the region with the use of native species.
