Bhubaneswar Airport History
Bhubaneswar Airport, known as Biju Patnaik Airport, is the primary airport in the state of Orissa. The airport got its name from the former Chief Minister of Orissa, Biju Patnaik, who was a famous aviator as well as a freedom fighter. At present, it is a domestic airport but recently Chief Minister, Navin Patnaik has sought international tag for Bhubaneswar airport as with the completion of the on-going construction work, the airport can handle 1000 domestic passengers as well as 384 international passengers during the crest hours. The airport is approximately 3 km away from center of the city.

Terminal 1: The airport has a single terminal at present which is used for domestic purpose only. Currently, there are quite a good numbers of airlines such as Air India, IndiGo, Jet Airways, JetKonnect and Air India Regional which operate their flights to various parts of the country such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Port Blair, Bangalore, Hyderabad and many more.
