About Dabolim Airport
Goa Airport History:
Goa airport was established in the 1950s on 249 acres by the government of the Estado da Índia, Portuguesa. Soon after its inception till the year 1961, the airport served as the main centre for the local airline TAIP Transportes Aéreos da Índia Portuguesa. It served Daman & Diu, Karachi, Mozambique, Timor and other places with frequent flights. The airport was taken over by the Indian Navy's air wing in the year 1962 when Major General K.P. Candeth, who had led the victorious military operation into Goa, "handed over" the airport to the Indian Navy before resigning as its military governor to a Lieutenant Governor of the then Union Territory of Goa in June.

Terminal 1: Domestic
Numbers of domestic flights fly from this terminal throughout the day. It is well connected to almost ten Indian airports.
Terminal 2: International
The international flights of the airport are operated only to the Persian Gulf region by the two state owned carriers, Air India and Indian Airlines, who were permitted a duopoly of this sector for a few years. Numerous European charter airlines fly to Goa especially in the winter season.

Complimentary luggage trolleys are provided to the passengers throughout the airport. At the international departure, one can find baggage wrapping machine as well. One can easily carry their luggage from and to the airport with ease due to better services.

At the Goa airport one can find Handicraft Emporium and Peals & Leather Garments to shop. At the domestic terminal, one can get a good collection of Goan mementos and the TR store has some local fashions in the international departures. There are few snack bars at international departures and some vending machines as well from where you can serve your appetite. Outside the domestic terminal, there is a restaurant as well.
Duty Free Shopping:
Flemingo duty free shop is located in the airport. One can get a wide range of products including liquor & spirits, tobacco, confectionery, jewellery and electronics from all the leading brands of the world at a very reasonable cost.
Connectivity with the City from Goa Airport:
Bus: There are several private buses available from just outside the airport terminal. These buses are available at every half an hour connecting it to Panjim, Mapusa, Ponda and Margoa. There are few buses that also go to the close by city of Vasco da Gama. There is a stop at the closer Chicalim bus stop which is at a distance of about 0.93 miles from the airport.
Rail: The airport has a railway station which is located at a distance of 1km from the terminals. The Indian Rail line connects it to Margoa which is about 45 minutes away and to Vasco da Gama as well which is situated at a distance of about 2 miles from the airport.
