IndiGo airlines’ fleet size is 255 aircraft. Covering 62 domestic and 23 international destinations, the airline has 1500 flights that fly daily. Chennai, Hyderabad, Jammu, Kolkata, Vijayawada, Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi are among the major domestic destinations it covers.
IndiGo airlines domestic baggage allowance
There are no seat classes in IndiGo. The baggage allowance for domestic IndiGo airlines flights is 15kg and the dimensions should not exceed 158cm. Infants are not allowed to carry any item as check-in baggage.
For all IndiGo flights in the domestic sector, the hand baggage allowance is 7kg. Only one bag is allowed as carry-on baggage and the dimensions should not exceed 55cm x 35cm x 25cm. For an infant, a stroller is allowed as hand baggage and there is no extra charge for it. Apart from that, the IndiGo airlines hand baggage allowance also extends to an added personal item including a lady’s hand bag or a laptop which does not exceed more than 3kg.
For excess baggage in IndiGo airlines, a passenger has to pay INR 400 per kilogram, additionally. One can also book pre-paid excess baggage by visiting the airline’s website or by calling the airline’s call centre. It can be done up to two hours before flight departure.
For 3kg of excess baggage, the cost would be INR 1200, for 5kg, it will be INR 1900, for 10kg, it will be INR 3800, for 15kg, it is INR 5700 and for 30kg, it is INR 11,400.
For an oversized item to be carried on board the passenger would have to buy an extra seat and it does not come under the IndiGo airlines hand baggage allowance. This seat purchase cannot be done online. One has to call the airline’s customer care number.
