New Delhi Airport History:
Indira Gandhi International Airport is an important airport which is situated in the capital of India, Delhi. Initially, in 1930, Safdarganj airport was established in India which remained functional till 1962. Then it was named as Palam airport which later in 1986 changed to IGIA after Indira Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India. From then, it evolved into an important airport of India which is used for domestic, international, cargo and private jet flights. It now operates under the authority of Delhi International Airport Private Limited (DIAL). With time, DIAL is planning to make this airport an international transit hub for all the flights.

New Delhi Airport Terminals:

List all the Terminal: Though there are 3 main terminals of IGI airport but some of them are not functional which are Terminal 2, Terminal 1B and Terminal 1A, due to refurbishment which has to be done to make them future termini.

Terminal 1 - Domestic: Terminal 1C and Terminal 1D are primarily used for the domestic flights which run flights by GoAir, IndiGo and Spice jet. All the domestic flights by these operators can be board from these terminals.

Terminal - International & Domestic: Terminal 3 is the 8th largest terminal in the world which is used for international flights. Major operators of international flights from this terminal include all major airlines which fly around the globe from here. Domestic airlines like Jet airways, Kingfisher airlines, Air India etc., also run from here to major cities of India.  

Cargo Terminal: The Cargo Terminal of IGI airport is under the authority of Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India Pvt. Ltd., which is responsible for handling the cargo activities and functionality. The cargo bay of IGI airport is 1km away from terminal 3.
