Best Time to Visit Kedarnath

How to Reach Do Dham

If you are booking a Do Dham Yatra package for Kedarnath and Badrinath, then the nearest airport is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun while the nearest railway station is located in Haridwar. The journey from Haridwar to Gaurikund (the starting point of the Kedarnath trek) is approximately 7 hours, while it will take you around 6-7 hours to reach Gaurikund from the Dehradun airport. If you are journeying via Delhi, then you can reach Gaurikund in around 11-12 hours via road.

The road distance to Badrinath from Sonprayag (Kedarnath) is approximately 211-224 kilometres, depending on the route that you choose. Helicopter rides may help you save time on the route, although you should check for their availability beforehand. Alternatively, you can drive down to Guptkashi from Gaurikund and then to Joshimath to reach Badrinath

If you have chosen Yamunotri and Gangotri as your destination for the Do Dham Yatra package, you will have to choose the same transit points as mentioned earlier. Helicopter rides are also available to reach both the temples.

• Barkot- The sleepy and serene hill station of Barkot is 46 kilometres away from Yamunotri and is perched at 1,220 metres above sea level. The natural beauty all around will amaze you instantly.

From Gangotri-

• Mukhba- Located on the route to Gangotri, this village situated in the Harsil town on the banks of Bhagirathi River can be a part of your Do Dham Yatra package. Nestled at 2,620 metres above sea level, it will ensure fabulous experiences for travellers.
• Nelong Valley- Only 9 kilometres away from Gangotri, the valley was opened in 2015 and has grown in popularity ever since. It is quite similar to the terrain in Ladakh.
• Kedartal- Find Shiva’s Lake only 17 kilometres away from Gangotri. It is one of the state’s highest lakes at 4,912 metres above sea level. A visit to this attraction will leave you awestruck.

From Kedarnath-

• Vasuki Tal- This beautiful glacial lake is located at 14,200 feet above sea level near the Kedarnath Dham. Brahma Kamal and other flowers bloom here at various times of the year.
• Triyuginarayan Temple- This temple is only 15 kilometres away from Kedarnath and is located in a snow-laden village with stunning views of the mountains.
• Guptkashi- 47 kilometres away from Kedarnath, this pristine landmark is situated at 1,319 metres above sea level towards the western side of the Mandakini River Valley.

From Badrinath-

• Gorson Bugyal- A short trek of 3 kilometres from Auli will bring you to this Himalayan wonderland. Marvel at its lush green pastures and coniferous forests.
• Niti Valley- A tiny village tucked away in the valley, it is the last such outpost and village in the Chamoli district, along the Indo-Tibetan border. It is perched at 3,600 metres above sea level.
