The temple is famous for its annual fair, which is held during February and March. It is said to have been built by the Khatoo ruler Roopsingh Chauhan in 1027 A.D. Made of lime mortar and marble, the temple is also an architectural marvel apart from being a significant religious site. The temple’s sanctum sanctorum is decorated with gold sheets, which is a grand sight to witness.  

Harshnath Temple: Located around 50km from the Khatu Shyam Mandir, the Harshnath Temple is another important religious site for pilgrims and tourists. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to have been built by the Shiv ascetic Bhavarakta in 973 CE. The temple complex is surrounded by ruins and situated on top of the Harsaagiri hill, providing a breathtaking view of the landscape.
