I arrived late and the restaurant had shut 15 mins earlier. The owner made me a delicious Butter Chicken as Tuesday was curry night. Mickey from behind the bar was extremely good at her job and helped me with the local beer selection. The room was fantastic. It was spacious, clean and quiet. I also enjoyed a final drink in a comfortable chair on the balcony. The bed in my room was extremely comfortable and I had a great nights sleep. My only regret was not being able to stay for an additional night.

We chose to stay here due to the proximity to parts of the Rail Trail.
Room was very clean. We chose the verandah room. It was upstairs. Our son chose another room which was downstairs.
No direct access to the verandah from our room but there’s a door next to our room that can be used to gain access.
Large shower with two shower heads. Swivel TV that can be viewed from the bed or the lounge chairs. Beautiful wooden floorboards. Plenty of bedding with crisp top and bottom sheets and warm quilts.
Keys to the room and the door to the top floor are in a lock box near the external staircase.
There’s also an internal staircase to the restaurant/bar area.
On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings the restaurant serves Indian food. I don’t know what they serve the other nights.
Car parking is off street, at the side of the hotel. There’s also a courtyard next to the car park with plenty of tables and chairs.
Staff kindly warmed up my son’s pizza (which he had brought from home) because there’s no microwaves in the individual hotel rooms.
Our verandah room must have been above the restaurant. We could hear the music but it wasn’t too loud and it didn’t go too late.
Hotel is on a suburban street, near a park, just a block away from the main shopping strip. There’s also a wetland area nearby with boardwalks, ponds etc which we walked around after dinner.
Quirky and cute. Old heritage building with upstairs rooms so getting up creaky stairs was fun!
Great staff. Restaurant on site with great meals at good prices.

Promised a lot but delivered very little! Noisy generator and an overwhelming fish smell outside at all times. Average at best.
The hotel missed the mark on style. The bedside lamps had no cover only lightbulbs, the doona cover and pillows were a very dark navy that looked dodgy. I think white covers look fresh, clean and more inviting. The breakfast station on the landing was good with plenty of cereal, bread and toppings. If the owners want to improve the rooms they should stay at the royal daylesford and take notice of the small touches. The both hotel are around the same cost but massive difference in accommodation, it wouldn’t take much to improve the Peppercorn it just needs a bit of attention and love.

The staff member who checked us in was lovely, spotted us and checked us in. Check out easy.
Terrible decor. Shower too hot or too cold. Toilet seat did not stay up. Large cobwebs. Bed was saggy and valance on bed dirty.
Lovely area - nice, comfortable and clean accomodation.
Check in was disorganised. Dinner was a bit disorganised, some friendly staff. Noisy around bedtime. Room was pretty much as advertised which was satisfactory.
Loved the balcony although the furniture does need some maintenance. Bed very comfortable.
Really enjoyed our time and the terrific staff.

The staff were lovely.
Closed sign on door at check in. Fella who answered the phone sounded as if we had interfered and no staff in the morning so there was no continental breakfast available. We noticed as leaving a dark and locked up property that there was cereal, milk and toast available on a hall table - this had not been pointed out during our stay.
The restaurant was beautiful, food delicious and staff very attentive.
The bed was old and in poor condition - both slept poorly with painful backs in the morning.
Location is close to town, but the music played was jazzy - so great atmosphere
Would stay again if they change the bed and have staff in morning for breakfast.
Stayed in the ofsite "room". It is actually a 2 bedroom apartment. Spacious, clean, it had everything you need in the room down to pots pans fully kitted out. Comfortable bed in large bedrooms. Maybe 10% dearer than i would expect but it was a long weekend.

The Peppercorn was closed, found a phone number on the menu in the window - not good enough, details could have been text to us that morning. Stayed in offsite unit - wow, musty on entering, other peoples open milk, food & alcohol in fridge, oven dirty, dishwasher not emptied, broken blind, lots of cobwebs in outdoor area, outdoor table not clean, windows dirty. We were going to have dinner at the Peppercorn Hotel, with the state of the accommodation we didn’t want to give them anymore of our money so went to Country Club Hotel - delicious meal. Extremely disappointing - would NEVER stay there again!!!
karen.partnerMay 06, 2024 The property was comfortable and tidy. When we first arrived, we weren't able to unlock the front door as the lock was stuck. Lucky there was another entrance.
There was a lack of cutlery/crockery in the unit, no tea towels to dry dishes, no garbage bags.
The beds were very comfortable and the shower nice, however it dripped continuously.
Overall it was a comfortable stay, however for a self contained unit, they need to provide more kitchen utensils, etc.
One of the best sleeps I’ve had at a hotel. Great premises. Great dining options. Great continental breakfast. Great staff.
A neatly presented room with modern facilities in a yesteryear setting. Great for access to the rail trail - just across the road. Walkable to shops.
Excellent meals - quality ingredients, tasty well above the average pub meal - high restaurant standard.
