This place is a dump! You need to review and not promote it.

Never got to stay at the property it was day before Christmas Eve and the person who checks you in were at a family function. Not her fault at all. Shouldn’t really be available on Expedia if you can’t actually check in

The staff was nice, but not present. The room wasn’t ready when I arrived at 8:00pm I had to call the owner 3 times before she answered. I had to wait in my car while their cleaner “cleaned” the room. It was an older gentlemen who was living in the room before my arrival (who was also the cleaner). He claimed it was nicer room than his current living situation. Once I got all my stuff in the room it did feel cozy, although not cleaned. The shower worked but the tub would fill up with water at the same time. The microwave did not work, and I almost started an electrical fire. I tried to heat up a frozen dinner and ended up smoking out the room to a point where I had to leave and let it air out. The frozen dinner remained frozen. I tripped a breaker and messaged the owner, but she did not arrive, so I reset the breaker myself and all was fine. I left the microwave un plugged. The area could be definitively perceived as very sketchy, lots of apparent addicts around, they are harmless people though so I felt safe, but kept my awareness heightened. The lobby of the hotel smelt terrible, and everyday when I would leave it looked like something happened in the lobby. Items would be moved around and one morning it appeared a badge of clothes was left in the lobby. Very noisy as well. A very unique experience. Probably wouldn’t stay again even with the price.

Terrible

Someone was passed out in the doorway. The door was locked. No one was at the property. The phone number to call had a full mailbox. Maybe the worst accommodations I've seen in my decades of travel.
Sucks

Look, I am not going to lie. It is a 'dive hotel' for sure. There was music blasting from the upstairs I could hear upon entry but I did not hear it from my room. I did hear some bangs and noises sporadically throughout the night which woke me up. But I was just using it for a crash pad and spent my days with friends on the water. It was fairly clean. The manager on duty was super-friendly. Considering the price was less than 1/3 the price of any other hotels available in the area, I was fine with it. Oh... also, there was no TV in the room but there was A/C and I had my own laptop. Couldn't find any hotel wifi when I searched late at night but I had access to my ShawOpen. Overall, it wouldn't be my first choice, but as a single large male with no real personal safety concerns, I simply kept to myself and I was happy with my experience.

The layout of the room was ok. But we did not feel safe. The regulars in the pub, kept making comments, every time we stepped out, they would say “Ew” loud enough for all of us to hear. The fire alarm went off during our stay, we thought it was a fire. But it was a usual occurrence, as the firemen werent even surprised about the call. They made it out to be a casual thing. Then we also had stuff go missing from our room. My brother in law and family did not even get a key fob for their room, they were told to call the number posted at front door to enter their room every time. Someone threw out a cigarette butt in the back of my truck, and it burnt through a tarp I had covering my things in back. It was not somewhere I would ever stay again! I wish I was told about this place before staying!

I had to stay one night in Port Alberni as a single girl, and booked the Port Hotel because it was cheap. I do not recommend. The hotel is on top of a bar, and is not in a safe area of town. The bus driver who dropped me off there, who is also a local, said that she did not feel comfortable with me staying there. But I thought I would be fine. When I went inside it was empty, I called the number on the door and there was no answer. I looked around for about 5 minutes till I got the creeps and decided to leave. The lobby was empty and there was garbage on the floor. Upstairs I could hear banging. I got catcalled as I was walking away from the area. Please don't stay here if you are travelling alone, especially if you are a girl. Spend the extra money and go somewhere safer.
Don't book this hotel

I booked this hotel for employees going on a business trip and didn't notice I'd booked the wrong day. I called less than an hour after I made the booking, escalated things to Hotels.com customer support, and I never heard back from this hotel, they don't pick up the phone, they don't have a refund, our money basically was stolen because I could not get in touch with them for an adjustment. This is ridiculous customer service and I have no idea why this place is still listed on Hotels.com. Shame on you Port Hotel, and shame on you Hotels.com.

We came on August 2022 for 3 night, the owner did not showed up, as a result we where unable to get to our place. as the place was closed. Obviously, we had to paid in advance as was requested by the site but where forced to look for another place with are a family with 2 kids. The same issue was for all 3 days- finally after a long struggle we were able to get our money back but without even saying sorry for the inconvenience. Highly un recommended - save your money for different place

Did not stay. Place was like a crack house. Unbelievable you would have this listed as a "hotel" on your site. On top of that the fee was "non refundable". Still waiting for a possible refund as we did not stay at the location.

This is a CHEAP place to stay for the night... ...but it is not even close to clean. While it is above the pub, with the windows closed you do not really hear any noise from there. The apartments above the Family Room may be quite noisy though. This is unfortunate as Peter, the owner is helpful and kind. You might not receive said email with check-in details, I never got one. The lovely lady running the bar is none to impressed to have to find Peter for you. If you want clean, please pick a different place to stay. If you don't mind dust bunnies, hair in the sheets and tub or the occasional hole in the wall this is a cheap option. My request to have the bedding changed was obliged and done quickly with new clean sheets and blanket, they are helpful. The room is warm and the Family Room comes equipped with full bathroom, queen bed, desk and chair, luggage rack, futon couch, kitchenette table and 3 chairs, a small sink, dishes and drying rack toaster, microwave, drip coffee pot, and bar fridge.

From the outside of the building my expectation were low. Peter was a gem, very accommodating and helpful. The room was a nice size, very clean. I couldn’t fault the cleanliness whatsoever. A few touch ups could be made but for the price you couldn’t really go wrong. There was fresh water bottles and coffee in the room also. The only issue I had was there is no wifi which was a disappointment.

We did not stay, called to tell you but today, a week later, you called our home number! How stupid are you!!
Only good for crash pad

Place was okay not the greatest good for crack pad only… Fire alarm went off at 3:30 in the morning we had to leave building for 30 mins due to people on top floor smoking in their unit. I wouldn’t go back.
